JOHNSBURG | Johnsburg town clerk Jo A. Smith said she would like it to be made clear that supervisor Ron Vanselow has been medically unable to work or attend town board meetings for most of the year.

JOHNSBURG OKS SOLAR CONTRACT

CHESTERTOWN | Brittany Carroll sat on the side porch of her mother’s restaurant, taking a break from helping with chores. Tears welled up in her eyes as she talked about how her mom Melissa Travis-Carroll opened Bomber’s Place restaurant in June, merely 48 days after Melissa’s husband Thomas “Bomber” Carroll died May 7.

JOHNSBURG | The Johnsburg Town Board voted to accept the bid of Kasselman Solar to install a solar array on the Town Hall/Town Library building.

In an article published on Aug. 7 outlining local races, for instance, the writer referred to Vanselow as having heart bypass surgery in February, adding, “... and has not been at meetings for most of the year.”

“This has been my mom’s dream forever and now she’s got it,” the 19-year-old said of the new restaurant, named in honor of her father. “Mom is one of the very biggest role models in my life — I’m so proud of everything she’s accomplished.”

“The last time there was some confusion,” interim superintendent Gene Arsenault said.

Smith said she has been getting calls from people, some of them even stopping into the town offices, to say they think news articles are misrepresenting Vanselow’s absence.

The couple had been intending to develop and operate the business together.

The board last month received two bids for a solar energy system: one from Kasselman and one from Apex Solar. The bid from Apex came in lower, but without labor costs.

“The press is kind of putting him down,” Smith said. “I can tell you the man loved his job and would be there if he could. He has lost vision because of the stroke, and it breaks my heart to think people are stating he is just not at the meetings. He cannot medically be at the meetings,” Smith said.

Warren County shoots down proposals for EMS system County sheriff now looking to Albany County for ideas

wide EMS system in Warren County, with the chairman saying the cost of up to $1 million was “not workable.” Chairman Ron Montesi, supervisor-atlarge from Queensbury, said the county had put out a request for proposals (RFP) and received three, including a proposal from Johnsburg EMS, with all of them being in the $700,000 to $1 million range.
