RUTLAND — On Sept. 19, at approximately 8 p.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police’s Rutland barracks responded to a single vehicle crash with injuries, on U.S. Route 4 in Mendon. A VSP investigation revealed, Gregory R. Rollins, 26, of Rutland, was traveling west in a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado when he fell asleep. Rollins crossed the east bound travel lane prior to exiting the south side of the roadway and crashing head on into a large boulder. Rollins was able to exit the vehicle on his own, prior to emergency personnel’s arrival. He was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center by Regional Ambulance, for treatment to his non-life threatening leg injury. The truck is considered a total loss. Troopers were assisted at the scene by members of the Rutland City Fire Department and Regional Ambulance Service.

Patrick Leahy in the November election. “I stand here with you today believing that, with your help, Vermont can lead the nation in changing our broken and dysfunctional United States Senate,” Milne said to a crowd gathered in his hometown. Surrounded by fans and former Republican Gov. Jim Douglas of Middlebury, Milne spoke about the need for honest politicians who refuse to be controlled by big money interests. “Career politicians and big money are ruining our country,” he said. “Our government was designed to be of the people, by the people and for the people, but professional politicians and selfishness are changing our government into a government CONTINUED ON PAGE 12
More Vermonters getting a charge by driving E.V.s By Lou Varricchio lou@addison-eagle.com
MIDDLEBURY — Hybrid and all-electric cars may be old news to some folks, but more Vermonters have been making the switch from their staid all-gasoline cars to a new generation of “green” automobiles, according to Drive Electric Vermont. A recent incentive by Drive Electric Vermont got a new batch of Vermont drivers to make the switch. A $1,000 incentive applied, after June 15, with a select list of dealerships. However, only one import dealer in the Eagle’s circulation area, located in Rutland, appeared to be a “rebate” participant. In the 2016 model year, there are now more American-sourced E.V. models to choose from CONTINUED ON PAGE 11
