Rutland, Killington, Castleton & Beyond The greater Rutland area is one of VermontÕ s best regions for winter fun in the snow, arts, entertainment and dining. Killington and Okemo ski resorts attract visitors from around the country, while many local restaurants and shops cater to a variety of holiday needs from traditional Ò Christmas in VermontÓ venues to concerts and caroling. Rutland, which includes downtown shops along Center Street and MerchantÕ s Row, and the nearby Diamond Run Mall, offer the best shopping opportunities south of Burlington. RUTLAND Saturday, Dec. 5 ST. BRIDGETÕ S CHRISTMAS SALE. 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Friday, Dec. 11 Saturday, Dec. 12 ELF, THE MUSICAL, JR. Tells the story of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into SantaÕ s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised unaware that he is actually a human. This modern day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. Sunday, Dec. 13 VSO: HOLIDAY POPS. Everyone loves a holiday story! So get comfy as the Vermont Symphony Orchestra shares music from favorite Christmas movies, a masquerade ball, a fractured fairy tale, and of course the Nutcracker. Comedian and Moth StorySLAM host Hillary Boone emcees a program that also features some of her own humorous family sketches, plus an amazing youth soloist, the VSO brass, and a carol sing-along. Saturday, Dec. 5 TOYS FOR TOTS PARTY. What started as a small dinner party in 1986 has grown into a wonderful community event which helps put presents under the trees of needy Vermont families. For the past 29 years, the generous Killington community has helped us with this effort and to raise money for some other very deserving organizations. This year, as always, we ask that everyone attending bring a new unwrapped toy that will be donated to families who need a little help this holiday season. There will also be a rafe and auction for some amazing prizes donated by the generous businesses of the Killington Community and surrounding areas. The Foundry at Summit Pond, 4 p.m.

The small school with the big heart welcomes visitors this holiday season for several concert events.
Friday, Dec. 4
CASTLETON UNIVERSITY CHORALE AND CHAMBER SINGERS WINTER CONCERT. Our winter concert will feature music from a variety of contemporary composers including Ò It Take a VillageÓ by Joan Szymko, Ò AlleluiaÓ by Paul Basler, and Ò Remembrances of LoveÓ by James McCray. Accompanying instruments will include conga drums, horn, and harp. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for Castleton faculty, staff, alumni, seniors, students and children, and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office.

CASTLETON WIND ENSEMBLE WINTER CONCERT. Will present An Asian Celebration. Featuring works by composers Yagisawa, Boo, Chance, Chavez, Saucedo, and Brown, the wind ensemble will perform music that honors the wonderful contributions of Asian culture to wind band repertoire.
