Police make arrests in New Haven incidents

NEW HAVEN Ñ On July 12, Vermont State Police troopers were called to the 3019 Munger St. in New Haven for a possible burglary in progress. Members of the Middlebury Police Department and members of the Department of Motor Vehicles also responded. A vehicle was located, partially in the roadway on Munger Street. The vehicle led to a residence down the street, where Luke Freidin, 18, of New Haven was located. Freidin was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. Freidin was transported back to the VSP New Haven Barracks where he was photographed, finger printed and released on a citation. Police reported that after the arrest of Luke Freidin, John Freidin, 73, of Middlebury arrived at the scene and was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct.

Stampede promises to be record breaking By Lou Varricchio lou@addison-eagle.com BRISTOL Ñ The 21st annual Three-Day Stampede toward the Cure for Cystic Fibrosis is just around the corner and 2014 is shaping up to be a year of record breaking yard sale donations. “As of today we have collected over five tractor-trailer loads full of everything from furniture to home dŽ cor to sporting goods for your shopping pleasure. SaturdayÕ s drop-offs alone filled a 48-foot-long trailer leaving us scrambling to store the remainder of the items,Ó according to founder and organizer Bonita Bedard. A Monday morning phone call to Roger Paquette of PaquetteÕ s Self Storage (Platinum Sponsor) remedied that and another trailer was dropped off later that day. Ò We know that our last Saturday dropoff was a busy one based on the number of phone calls, e-mails and Facebook messages that we have responded to. Adam Myers Memorial fundraiser planned

Theft of items at Silver Lake

SALISBURY Ñ Vermont State Police reproted that on July 16, between the time of 2:25 and 9:10 p.m., a vehicle owned by Sharon Clayton of Buskirk, N.Y., was broken into at the trailhead of Silver Lake on Route 53 in Salisbury. Several items were stolen. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the VSP at 388-4919.

MIDDLEBURY Ñ Several businesses will be teaming up to raise money for the Middlebury Fire Department the weekend of July 21-26 as part of a fundraiser in honor of former fire fighter, Adam Myers. Myers was a dedicated member of the Middlebury Fire Department until his tragic death in a car accident on July 20, 2011. He left behind a loving wife, two sons and many more friends and family along with a legacy of community service. The third annual Adam Myers Memorial Fundraiser for the Middlebury Fire Department will be a weekend-long event made possible by the generous contributions of organizations such as the Blueberry Hill Inn, Vermont Shade & Blind, R.k. Miles, Two Brothers Tavern, Goodro Lumber, artist Mike Mayone, Marble Works Partnership, Otter Creek Brewing, Woodchuck Cider, American Flatbread, Noonie Deli, Mister UpÕ s, Fire & Ice, Green Peppers, Otter Creek Yoga, Aubuchan Hardware, Champlain Valley Plumbing & Heating and many more who have donated cash or items to be raffled off in Ad-

am’s memory to benefit the Middlebury Fire Department. Friends and family will be traveling from across the country to honor AdamÕ s memory and to support the MFD. Ryan Emilio, a former colleague of AdamÕ s on the MFD, tried to explain just how much Adam Myers meant to the Fire Department: Ò Adam was in integral part of our technical rescue team and a huge champion of everything we do here at the Department. His hard work, dedication and enthusiasm can never be replaced and will never be forgotten.Ó Holmes Jacobs, a friend and former employer of Adam at Two Brothers Tavern, reiterated how big a loss AdamÕ s death was to the community. Ò Adam was a wonderful individual. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend.
