TICONDEROGA Ñ Ghosts, goblins and assorted creatures will descend upon downtown Ticonderoga again this fall. The annual HalloweenFest will be held Thursday, Oct. 31. Montcalm Street will be closed from Lake George Avenue to Lake Champlain Avenue 3 to 4:30 p.m. to allow youngster the freedom to run from business-to-business seeking Halloween treats. A rain date of Friday, Nov. 1, has been set. A decision on using the rain date will be made by 9 a.m. Oct. 31. HalloweenFest will be sponsored by the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership. Ò Children and their parents are invited to enjoy the Halloween festivities in historic downtown Ticonderoga,Ó said John Bartlett, chairman of the Ti Montcalm Street promotions committee. Ò Treats are once again being provided by our local businesses and organizations.Ó Participating businesses and organizations will display a pumpkin in their windows and will hand out treats to young people as they walk the sidewalks. Candy will also be given out at the Ticonderoga Community Building by the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership.

SCHROON LAKE Ñ The new principal at Mountainside Christian Academy in Schroon Lake is no stranger. Jennie Bensen, a 1997 Mountainside graduate and former teacher at the school, is now the principal.

nice to have people, old friends, coming to pick up their children from the same school we attended. ItÕ s great to be back.Ó Bensen grew up in School Lake, attending Mountainside as a youth. Her parents and sister still live in the community. After graduating from Mountainside, Bensen attended Word of Life Bible Institute before going on to Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa. There she earned a degree in English education.
