MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Brothers: I recently received an e-mail from Ed Livermore, Oklahoma '66. His message is one that we should all hear. I have included excerpts below.

"The era from about 1760 to 1840 is one of the most important periods in American history. It was in this period that enlightened men gathered in Philadelphia to write the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Thoughts expressed in these documents were fundamentally revolutionwy.

"During this same period Delta Upsilon was Ed Porter, Oklahoma '65 founded at Williams College. It was a revolutionary organization. It was the first anti-secret (now non-secret) fraternity. For our country and our fraternity the period of their founding profoundly affected the form and shape what was created.

"Enlightened thinking in that era dealt with justice and the notion that all men, regardless of position or birth, are born with inalienable rights.

"At Williams College, men were interested in a fraternal life and were sensitive to discrimination and elitist and secret societies. They believed that secrecy and elitism were the antithesis of the great wave of thought engulfing all campuses in the nation. They placed logic, reason and individual freedom at the fore of their thought.

"They decided to form a different society, one that was open and dedicated to the cause of justice, merit, characteJ~ and fair play. They saw these attributes as the essence of a virtuous life.

"The new fraternity, Delta Upsilon, placed 'Justice, Our Foundation' at its very core .

"We DUs should take enormous pride in understanding our fraternity was among the greatest institutions founded in America during the most fertile, revolutionary period of political thought in the history of man. DUs, and all Americans are guided today by the lofty truths consistent with our principles ."

Jeffrey L. Fuhrman Appointed as DU's Executive Director During the 2003 Winter Educational Conference in Indianapolis in January, the Fraternity's Board of Directors announced the appointment of Jeffrey L. Fuhrman , Northern Iowa '94, as Delta Upsilon's new Executive Director. Jeff began working in Indianapolis on January 27.

Jeff was initiated into DU at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 1992 and graduated from there with a B .A. in 1994.

He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law, with Special Honors, in 1997 .

Jeff also holds a CPA license.

Province Governors Now in Full

DELTA FORCE At the recent Winter Educational Conference in Indianapolis, the Fraternity'S Board of Directors officially appointed Province Governors for each of the 13 provinces and Canada , reinforcing their support for a redeveloped program for alumni volunteers. The program is widely being refelTed to as the "Delta Force." The Delta Force serves many purposes including providing avenues for overall alumni volunteerism and participation. More than that, however, the Delta Force serves to build a stronger Delta Upsilon through increased and advanced alumni support of our undergraduate chapters , utilizing the mantra "55,000 Brothers helping others." Bill Messick, Lafayette '68, a member of the Fraternity'S Board of Directors and chairman of the Alumni Relations Committee said, "We are just getting started, and this program is already catching on like wildfire. We are all extremely excited about this initiative."

The Board of Directors has assigned a Province Governor for each province. The Governor is the main communication link between the alumni or undergraduate constituents in each province, and the International Fraternity. The Governors will be elected annually by their peers at the annual Leadership Institute.

Additionally, Province Area Coordinators (PAC men) are being appointed continuously as support players for the Governors and the Fraternity's initiatives. The PAC men are invaluable in that it helps make communication even stronger geographically as the number of PAC men grow throughout each province. Volunteers have opportunities to serve in many 4

As an alumnus, Jeff has been quite active on the Northern Iowa alunmi board as well as serving on the faculty for Regional Leadership Seminars , the Leadership Institute , and the Winter Educational Conference. He previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a manager responsible for supervising and training staff for various tax projects of clients from Fortune 100 companies.

One of Jeff's goals is that during the next two years he will visit every campus on which Delta Upsilon has a group. He began his travels almost immediately, participating in four of the 2003 Regional Leadership Seminars.

Brother Fuhrman said that he is excited about the opportunity to serve in the Executive Director position and give back to the Fraternity some portion of what DU has given him.

The Board of Directors and the IHQ staff are energized by Jeff's goals for the Fraternity and are excited about DU's future.

Delta Upsilon Colonizes at

ARIZONA STATE December 7,2002, marked the celebration of Delta Upsilon's re-colonization at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. The ceremony, including the induction of 20 members of the Arizona State Colony, took place in the Memorial Union.

Friends , family, and alumni attended the colonization ceremony. Brothers Golden St. John , Northem Arizona '00, Jason Moore , Northern Arizona '01 , and Angus McLoone , Northern Arizona '00 served as officers for the ceremony.

Brother Mathew Redding, Arizona State '94, presented the Charge for this exciting event. He spoke of the traditions and the principles of Delta Upsilon and presented the group with a small piece of history from the original chapter; a cloth banner from Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority from the 1996 "Duckball."

Following the ceremony, the members of the colony, parents , and guests attended a reception and dinner to celebrate the colony's accomplishments. The Arizona State Colony must now meet the Fraternity 's re-instatement requirements in order to attain chapter status, which could be achieved as early as the 2003 fall semester.

North Carolina State DU

COMING BACK Delta Upsilon welcomed its newest colony on February 1, 2003 , with the colonization at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. The ceremony included the induction of 15 members of the North Carolina State Colony and took place in the Brown Room of the Talley Student Center.

The colonization marked the end of a nine-year absence of Delta Upsilon from the campus. The endeavor to bring DU back to NC State began over two years ago and made rapid progress after several alumni and a very active faculty advisor, Ms. Melinda Sopher, became involved last year.

Rick Taylor '82, David Cox '82 , Todd Owens '83, and Paul Taylor '90, along with Ms . Sopher and several other volunteers, began a focused recruitment plan. The recruitment plan was simple: recruit men through the Four

Founding Principles. With Friendship, Character, Culture, and Justice guiding the recruitment process , the colony quickly took form.

The colonization team consisted of Michael Slovak , Comell ' 77, Chief Marshal; Paul Taylor, Examiner; and Brother Cox served as the Chaplain. Brian M. Jones , Carthage '00, delivered the colony charge. Brother Jones spoke about symbols and the Fraternity, and how there are many symbols that are associated with being a meinber of Delta Upsilon , but the biggest is the conuuunity in which we share our experiences. The keynote speaker of the luncheon was Mike Giancola , Director Center for Student Leadership , Ethics, & Public Service. His address covered the topic of justice, and if there was justice in the world.

UNDERGRADUATE NEWS The fall semester of 2002 was very rewarding and memorable for the men of the Kansas State Chapter. This year's rush went well for the chapter as 28 great new members were added, filling the house to capacity.

The men of Delta Upsilon were privileged to initiate six new members of the spring rush class into Delta Upsilon. The initiation, which was attended by many family and friends, was held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on September 29.

Members of the Denison Chapter were recognized on January 12, during DU's Winter Educational Conference, for their efforts during the second annual DU Community Service Week. The chapter received the outstanding community service week chapter award for their poptab collection drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Columbus, Ohio, during the Fraternity's international service week November 3-10,2002. The chapter had 100 percent member participation in the tab drive, which encouraged Denison University students to donate more than 5,000 tabs toward the cause.

The Kansas Chapter wrapped up the calendar year 2002 with an exciting and productive finish. The chapter once again established a record scholarship mark, boasting a 3.08 GPA with more than 65% of the members earning better than a 3.0 average. The brothers are particularly proud of the freshman pledge class as they eclipsed the campus all-freshman men's grade-point average of 2.59 with their own 3.05 GPA. Several Kansas DUs are making their presence known in the university community, as Ben Counter '04 was recently elected VP-interfraternal relations for the IFC; Dallas Rakestraw '03, Jeff Dunlap '05, and Pat Joyce '06 are serving as student senators; and Ben Van Ness '05, Tom Van Compernolle '05, and Brian Holzgraefe '05 are active in the Student Alumni Association. Grant Thompson '04, Justin Trombold '04, Jason Huntington '05, and Sean Murphy '06 are competing for the university's water polo team, while David Hiebsch '03 is on the ice with the Kansas hockey team.

Kansas DU recently added to its trophy collection, claiming a championship in sand volleyball, a 2nd place finish in floor hockey, and a third place trophy in football.

Combining these successes with earlier championships in golf and swimming, the "Ducks" are once again in the hunt for the Hill Intramural Championship.

The Brothers of the Kent State Chapter finished the fall semester with many goals accomplished, including increasing the chapter size by 40 percent. The DUs were voted Kent State University Chapter of the Month for October. This is mostly due to the annual philanthropy, the Flash 'N Duck Run. This event takes place on Homecoming when the Brothers relay the Homecoming game ball from the "Rock," which is a well-known landmark on campus, to Dix Stadium.

This year the proceeds will benefit the Dylan J. F. Carlton Scholarship Fund. Dylan, the son of campus advisor, Donna Carlton, passed away over the summer at the age of 15, due to a congenital heart

After strong encouragement from the Greek Advisor and the Dean of Students, the University of Illinois Greek system is implementing a strategic planning tool known as the Illinois Greek Initiative (IGI). Modeled after Delta Upsilon's Chapter Excellence Plan, the project is being spearheaded

This year the chapter also began a new philanthropy called the D.U.ck's Paintball Tournament. The paintball tournament had a good turnout for the first year and has the potential to become an annual philanthropy.

One of the biggest highlights of the year came recently during Homecoming as the Delta Upsilon, Alpha Chi Omega, and Acacia team won Homecoming. This marked the third time in four years that DU's pairing has come out on top, with a second place finish last year.

After three years of financial and operational recovery, diligent brotherhood building and all around hard work, Kent's Oldest and Kent's Best is back and stronger than ever.

The project fosters the establishment of annual goals, as well as processes and measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the goals. Brother Hintze is the IFC President at Illinois - the largest Greek system in North America, with 53 NIC fraternities.

Currently, the plan is only being implemented for the University of Illinois fraternities; the campus sorori.ties are expected to follow in the near future.

The Miami Chapter has awarded $1,000 Leadership Scholarships to two first-year Miami University students. This marks the first year that Delta Upsilon has offered scholarships to students exemplifying what it means to be a community leader. Until recent years, a scholarship offered by fraternities to non-members was not seen at Miami.

"We are fortunate enough to be able to offer these scholarships, not only to assist first-year students financially, but also to open their eyes and show them that Greek organizations are not just about parties," said Brian Sejas '03, Chapter President. " Fraternities and sororities were founded on the principles of leadership, service and friendship. These scholarships reward potential members of the Greek community for their outstanding achievements."

The first winners of the Delta Upsilon Leadership Scholarship are firstyear students Patrick Lynch and James Hermann who were selected from a large group of exceptional applicants.

Lynch, from Chagrin Falls, OH, is a Human Resource Management major and Hermann is an Integrated Mathematics Education major from Libertyville, Illinois.

"Patrick and James impressed us with their applications, and we were more than happy to award these scholarships to men who possess such exceptional leadership qualities," said Sejas.

The Delta Upsilon Leadership Scholarship was made possible by a gift left to the Fraternity by DU alumnus Lysle E.Adams. Adams graduated from Miami in 1929 and was past president of the Miami University Alumni Club. He left the chapter a sum of money from which to start the scholarship when he passed away in November of 2000.

"Without the help of our alumni and our chapter advisor, we would not be able to offer this scholarship," Sejas said. "Their support will make the Delta Upsilon Leadership Scholarship an annual award presented to a Miami student who demonstrates outstanding leadership ability."

The Michigan Tech DUs had a busy first semester.

September 21 was the annual parade of nations in which several members of chapter walked. Following the parade was an event where each country's representatives made food from their country. The DU brothers volunteered to take out the trash and cleaned up after the event was over.

On September 22 there were two events. In the afternoon was the chapter retreat at Twin Lake State Park.

Although a very chilly afternoon, the brothers used it as an open forum to discuss where they are going, what changes need to be made, and what is absolutely right with the Fraternity.

Later that afternoon, the brothers tended to highway on US-26 in Ontonagon County, the chapter's Adopt-a-Highway project.

October 5 was Homecoming, and the weekend of October I I was Michigan Tech's Parents Weekend. DU had an open house and cooked breakfast for the parents that could be there.

November 2 was the annual leaf rake where chapter members rake leaves for community members, and in return receive donations for Little Brothers/Friends of the Elderly.

Weather in the form of snow impeded the leaf rake . Some were still able to rake some lawns, but many of the usual clients already had too much snow. However, the following weekend (November 9) the skies where sunny and most of the snow melted, so the brotherhood gave the leaf rake another go, doubling the donations.

The excitement of the fall semester was taken up with the new house which became DU's the weekend of Homecoming in October. The

undergraduates wish to express their appreciation to the alumni for taking this tremendous step. It was decided to take some time and finish some improvement projects before move-in. The new house will accommodate 15 people, doubling the capacity of the former lodgings.

Another exciting event was the "Running of the Football" between Fargo and Grand Forks, a distance of about 75 miles. This is the chapter's annual philanthropy and is a lot of fun as well as raising funds for charity.

Oklahoma t -tllap er The first weekend in November was a fantastic experience for Oklahoma DUs. Tony Lopez '03 won the award as Oklahoma University's top senior student.

The presentation was made at the game in front of a crowd of 76,000.

DU's performance in the University Sing was amazing. Only five of the fraternities on campus made the final cut and had acts in the U-Sing. There were two performances at Lloyd Noble Arena and the crowds were the biggest ever.

Sunday saw the initiation of 54 new DU brothers.

tern serve apter Alumni Chapter President James Monaco '80 and 44 enthusiastic undergraduate and alumni brothers welcomed four new brothers into Delta Upsilon on November 2 at the 151 st Founders Day Dinner. The four new brothers are Andrew Bartlett '06, Chris Delgado '06, Greg Archer '06, and Matt Zitnick '05.

During the dinner program, recognition for over half a century of membership in DU was given to Jack Price '42, Jack Angelotta '45, Jack McMahon '49, and Marty Stancik '49.

The evening ended with a sense of friendship and a commitment to see the chapter grow and prosper for another 151 years.

Brothers Helping Brothers In the fall of 2002, DU brothers participated in many community service projects and philanthropic activities. Twelve undergraduate chapters submitted reports of their community service.

Providing comprehensive chapter services support and the many value-added leadership and educational opportunities that are funded through grants from the Foundation is a costly investment. In fact, estimates put DU's expenditures per undergraduate at close to $360 annually. Donations to the DUEF are essential to being able to further the purposes of our Fraternity through the various educational endeavors and opportunities available to those who carry our mantel: our undergraduate brothers. Through an nual grants to the Fraternity, the Foundation is able to help support: The Leadership Institute - Since 1948, the annual Delta Upsilon Convention & Assembly at'e included in what we now know as the Leadership Institute . For 55 years and counting, the Leadership Institute has provided stellar educational programming to undergraduate and alumni members of Delta Upsilon.

The Winter Educational Conference - First instituted in 1995 as the Presidents Academy, the WEC now includes educational programming for chapter presidents, as well as the vice-presidents of recruitment. The tlU'ee-day conference is designed to assist these officers in their leadership and management function s to help build a stronger Delta Upsilon .

The Leadership Consu ltant Program - Thi s program was establi shed in 1903 to employ graduate members of DU to serve as representati ves of the Fraternity who are trained to assist chapter/colony members and alumni advisors to advance the principles of DU.

Chapter Services Support -IHQ serves as a clearinghou se for an assortment of educational manual s, videos , programming serv ices , personnel resources, and management tools . The Chapter Services department supervi ses the development and implementation of these educational resources.

C har les Evans Hughes DU Emerging Leaders (DUEL) Program - Launched at the 2000 Leadership Institute , the DUEL Program is designed for our chapter's newest members (freshmen and sophomores). Participants receive customized training in leadership philosophies, group dynamics , confrontation , service leat'ning, public speaking, and motivation.

Regional Leadership Sem inars - Each RLS is designed to unite and ass ist the chapters in a particular province together to share ideas and techniques , and to learn additional innovative membership and chapter leadership skills. DU continues to evaluate its personal grolVth and membership education curriculum tailored to all DU members .

Boys & Girls C lu b - The partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Canada provides yet another way that DU Brothers can become better men while serving others. The Foundat ion helps the Fraternity in the marketing of these service opportunities to the brotherhood.

McQuaid Scholarship - Undergraduate Scholarships and one Graduate Fellowship are awarded annually to those brothers who apply and are selected to receive $2,500 grants to help further their education. The scholarship was estab li shed in 2000 to honor the service of Brother James D . McQuaid , Chicago '60 .

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

The Oak Circle seeks to surpass last year's inaugural fundraising record of $3,054 from undergraduate brothers. The benefit of your gift not only helps build the endowment, but also now funds the annual Oak Circle Scholarhips. The Oak Circle recognizes gifts from undergraduate members to Delta Upsilon's annual campaign. Not only are the undergraduate donors building their own record of financial giving to the DUEF, they are also helping to contribute in building the endowment for future undergraduate brothers as well as contributing to the annual awards recognition of their own chapters .

Importance of Financial Giving - Financial gifts to the DU Educational Foundation help ensure that the educational programs and services that the Fraternity undertakes are able to continue. The more money that is received, the more the Fraternity is able to achieve , and the current services will be even more enhanced . The Oak Circle lends itself to not only raising money for undergraduate scholarships, but also to help show today's undergraduate brothers the importance of giving to the DUEF by establishing their personal giving record.

Building the Oak Circle Endowment -

What chapters are leading the charge?

Money that is raised through the Oak Circle goes toward an endowment that funds a $500 Oak Circle Scholarship. As the endowment increases so do the number of scholarships that are able to be awarded.

Currently it takes about $8,500 to fully endow one $500 scholarship.

Chapter Recognition - All brothers who participate in the Oak Circle are listed in the annual report and are recognized at the two major DU conferences. Donors are also helping to contribute to their chapter's annual cumulative total for chapter recognition at the Leadership Institute. Chapters are given special award recognition when the cumulative totals from all participating Brothers within their chapter are totaled.

Robert L.Van Pelt , Kent State '77, has been promoted to the rank of Captain in the Harris County Sheriff's Department in Houston , Texas. Pictured are Brother Van Pelt (I) with Sheriff Tommy Thomas. Van Pelt has worked in law enforcement, primarily with the Sheriff's Office, since 1979. He is cUlTently assigned to the Executive Bureau, where he functions as the department's public information officer.

William F. "Bill" Darlin , Miami '56, was initiated

into the Chagrin Falls High School Hall of Fame for his humanitarian work over the past 15 years. He has served as a deck officer on board the Spirit of Grace, taking food and medicine to Honduras. Also , he has helped in setting up re-hab clinics in the Bosnia and Herzegovina areas of Sarajevo and Belgrade. Bill has smuggled Bibles into China, Cuba, and Russia over the past 10 years. ClIlTently he is assisting in the building of clinics in Vietnam and building a Ronald McDonald type dormitory for parents of children in the Hanoi area. August 10,2002, Michigan Tech held its first annual alumni picnic at Lake Lansing Park North in Haslett, Michigan, with attendance of over 40 . The event was a great success thanks to the hard work of Chuck Wegener '83, BaITY Roney '84, Steve Neumann '87, and Adam Mitteer '04. The next annual picnic is scheduled for August 9, 2003 , again at Lake Lansing Park North. The DUs are looking forward to this becoming a tradition with ever-growing attendance. A unique, surprise initiation ceremony was conducted for Clarl<Williams, Northwestern '62, on October 4, 2002, in Evanston, Illinois. He departed N0l1hwestern before he could be initiated nearly 40 years ago. During the next several years he married , staI1ed his family and launched a very successful business career. By attending night school he eventually received his N0I1hwestern degree. And he never lost touch with his (almost) Fraternity brothers.

Clark's initiation occurred as the result of a reunion during October 200 I which attracted 28 brothers back to Evanston from around the country who had been N0l1hwestern DUs in the early 60s. During this gathering, Greg Shaw '62 discovered that Clark had never been initiated and that it would be very meaningful to him to be officiaUy recognized since Clark's father, Lloyd , was Shown (I r) Brothers Warrack, initiated as a N0I1hwestern DU in 1931 . Greg asked Gary Levering '61 if he knew anyone who could Williams, Clark, and Levering. help. Gary was able to aITange it since he had served as an International Fraternity field secretary after graduation with Allan WaITack , Alberta '61, who was on the Board of the International Fraternity.

Those in attendance included: John Anderson '62, John Bitner '61, Ed Bradley '61 , Gary Clark '63, Levering, Keith Morse '61, Chris Norborg '62, and Brother Shaw. A particularly memorable aspect of the ceremony, which was conducted by Brother Wan路ack (who had graciously driven from Indianapolis for the occasion), was that the jeweled pin given to Brother Williams was donated by Brother Clark. It had been owned by him for more than 40 years. Brother Williams was not only surprised but clearly touched by the occasion , conunenting on how proud his father would have been to witness his somewhat belated initiation .

Rowdy L. Williams, Oklahoma State '63, associate director of the Rogers State University Library, Claremore, Oklahoma, has been named International Sertoman of the Year by Sertoma International. Sertoma is a volunteer civic service organization whose primary mission is to provide support and assistance to people with speech and hearing disorders and has more than 700 clubs in the U.S. , Canada, and Mexico.

Harry "Skip" Hartley II , Texas '86, of Impaco, Inc. in Houston , Texas, has been elected as a director of the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association. PERA is a non-profit association in the automotive aftetmarket industry.

Rahim Jivraj, Victoria '99, is a principal of Spring & Mercer, an advertising/marketing communications agency located in Vancouver, BC. Brother Jivraj says his company specializes in market research , strategy development , branding , technology, and advettising .

Delta Upsilon Loss Prevention Policies elta Upsilon Fraternity is a member of the Fraternity Information & Programming Group and the Fraternity Risk Management Trust. The policies on Alcohol and Drugs , Hazing, Sexual Abuse , Fire, Health and Safety, and Education are directly from the FIPG , Inc. policy. The Loss Prevention Policy of Delta Upsilon and FIPG , Inc. include the provisions that follow and shall apply to all fraternity entities and all levels of fraternity membership.

Alcohol and Drugs The possession , sale , use or consumption of alcoholic beverages , while on chapter premises , during a fraternity event , in any situation sponsored or endorsed by the chapter, or at any event an observer would associate with the fraternity, must be in compliance with any and all applicable laws of the state , province, county, city and institution of higher education , and must comply with either the BYOB or Third Party Vendor Guidelines.

2. No alcoholic beverages may be purchased through chapter funds nor may the purchase of same for members or guests be undertaken or coordinated by any member in the name of or on behalf of the chapter. The purchase or use of a bulk quantity or common sources of such alcoholic beverage, i.e. kegs or cases , is prohibited .

3 . Open pal"ties where alcohol is present , meaning those with unrestricted access by non-members of the fraternity, without specific invitation , shall be prohibited .

4 . No members, collectively or individually, shall purchase for, serve to, or sell alcoholic beverages to any minor (i.e. , those under legal drinking age) .

5. The possession, sale or use of any illegal drugs or controlled substances while on chapter premises or during a fraternity event or at any event that an observer would associate with the fraternity is strictly prohibited.

6. No chapter may co-sponsor an event with an alcohol distributor, charitable organization or tavern (tavern defined as an establishment generating more than half of annual gross sales from alcohol) where alcohol is given away, sold or otherwise provided to those present.

7 . No chapter may co-sponsor or co-finance a function where alcohol is purchased by any of the host chapters , groups or organizations.

8. All rush activities associated with any chapter will be a dry rush function.

9. No member shall permit , tolerate , encourage or participate in drinking games .

10. No alcohol shall be present at any pledge/associate member/novice program, activity or ritual of the chapter.

Fire, Health and Safety All chapter houses should meet all local fire and health codes and standards.

All chapters should have posted by common phones emergency numbers for fire, police and ambulances and should have posted evacuation routes on the back of the door of each sleeping room.

All chapters should comply with engineering recommendations as reported by the insurance company.

The possession and/or use of weapons of any kind within the confines and premises of the chapter house is expressly forbidden . The term weapon means any object , substance or chemical designed or intended to inflict a wound , cause injury or incapacitate, including but not limited to , all firearms, pellet guns, switchblades, knives and knives with blades five or more inches in length or dangerous chemicals.

Education Each fraternity shall instruct its students and alumni in the Loss Prevention Policy of FIPG , Inc. Additionally, all student and alumni members shall annually receive a copy of said Loss Prevention Policy.

Hazing No chapter, colony, student, alumnus, or employee shall conduct hazing activities. Hazing activities are defined as: "Any action taken or situation created , intentionally, whether on or off fraternity premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Such activities may include but are not limited to the following: use of alcohol ; paddling in any form ; creation of excessive fatigue; physical and psychological shocks; quests , treasure hunts , scavenger hunts, road trips or any other such activities can路ied on outside or inside of the confines of the chapter house; wearing of public apparel which is conspicuous and not normally in good taste; engaging in public stunts and buffoonery ; morally degrading or humiliating games and activities; and any other activities which are not consistent with academic achievement , fraternal law, ritual or policy or the regulations and policies of the educational institution, or applicable state/provincial law."

Sexual Abuse and Harassment The fraternity will not tolerate or condone any form of sexist or sexually abusive behavior on the part of its members , whether physical, mental or emotional. This is to include any actions which
