OUR NEW PRESIDENT
DELTA UPSILON INTERNATIONAL FRATERNITY
Introducingโฆ
North Americaโs Oldest Non-Secret Fraternity; Founded 1834
Delta Upsilon International Fraternityโs new President, E. Bernard Franklin, Ph.D., Kansas State โ76. Dr. Franklin is well known and well respected throughout Delta Upsilon, and in fact, the academic world, for not only his professional accomplishments but also for the example he sets personally.
The Principles of Delta Upsilon The Promotion of Friendship The Development of Character The Diffusion of Liberal Culture The Advancement of Justice E. Bernard Franklin, Ph.D. Kansas State โ76
A 1976 graduate of Kansas State University, Franklin was president of several student organizations, including the Student Government Association. In fact, Franklinโs election made history at KSU in three ways: he was the first African American student ever elected student president; the first student to win the election as a write-in candidate; and the first student in a field of five candidates to win the election with 55 percent of the votes in the largest voter turnout ever recorded. His election was reported on national TV and in print media as it was thought he was the first African American to be elected student president on a major predominately white campus. Franklin went on to make Kansas history books again by becoming the youngest person ever appointed to the Kansas State Board of Regents at age 24. He also became the youngest Chair of the Board at age 28. Currently the President of the Metropolitan Community College โ Penn Valley in Kansas City, Missouri, Brother Franklin previously was Executive Director of Kauffman Scholars, an unique initiative dedicated to guiding and supporting urban Kansas City seventh graders to high school graduation and then on to college. In 1998, Franklin was honored as one of the 100 Most Influential African Americans in Kansas City, and the Morehouse College Research Institute presented him the Vision Award for his โpioneering work in the area of educating men on the importance of fatherhoodโ. Dr. Franklin has an MS in Counseling and Behavioral Studies from the University of South Alabama and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology, with an outside emphasis in Family Studies from Kansas State. 2

FRATERNITY NEWS
Retiring Fraternity President Ed Porter, Oklahoma โ65, presenting the Presidentโs badge to newly elected DU President Bernard Franklin, Kansas State โ76. Newly elected to the Board of Directors are Timothy C. Dowd, Oklahoma โ75, and G. William Whitehurst, Ph.D, Washington & Lee โ50. Brother Dowd is an attorney with Elias, Books, Brown & Nelson, P.C. in Oklahoma City. He served as president of the Oklahoma DU Corporation from 1994-97 and during that time the new chapter house was acquired to replace a 65-year-old structure.
One of the strengths of Delta Upsilon is the caliber of men serving in leadership positions. These men not only serve, but elicit commitments from others to keep moving the Fraternity forward. After serving Delta Upsilon as its President for six years, Ed Porter, Oklahoma โ65, passed the revered baton of leadership to E. Bernard Franklin, Kansas State โ76. Brother Franklin also serves as the President of the Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. Mark E. Callihan, Pennsylvania State โ87, stepped down from his Board position as Alumni Director and Assistant Treasurer with the expiration of his two-year term. Brother Callihan is a partner at KPMG Peat Marwick and assisted the Fraternity with his expertise in financial matters.
The third Alumni Director stepping down from the Board was Donald E. Weaver, Indiana โ60. Brother Weaver was Director and Assistant to the President at Indiana University, and brought to the Board a knowledge of higher education trends and issues. 4

Whitehurst
After three years of active duty with the U.S. Navy, Brother Whitehurst attended Washington & Lee University, eventually getting his Ph.D. from West Virginia University in 1962. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1968 until his โretirementโ in 1987. โRetirementโ indeed! He then resumed his academic career at Old Dominion University as the Kaufman Lecturer in Public Affairs and currently teaches courses in history and political science. The Fraternity is fortunate to have these DU Brothers, who are more than willing and capable, be a part of the leadership of Delta Upsilon.

2006 Delta Upsilon Leadership Institute in Kansas City, Missouri
lready being lauded by continuing attendees as the best one yet and a fantastic experience by first-timers, the 2006 Delta Upsilon Leadership Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, at the very least, built upon the successes of past conventions to make this another one for the record books. Held at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, the Leadership Institute was attended by over 350 DUs, faculty and guests, who gathered for leadership and educational training, camaraderie and brotherly reunions. The weekend was presided over by Brother Nate Kuester, Washington State โ05 who served as Master of Ceremonies throughout the weekend. The Institute began with an exciting emotional and heartfelt message from Ms. Ashleigh Clark, a Pi Beta Phi from the University of Washington who was a special guest for the weekend. She recited a letter that she had written several weeks previous that expounded the good character of the men of the Washington Chapter and the fine example that they set for the other DU chapters. Following Ms. Clark, Brothers Craig Sowell, Houston โ92 and Joshua Katz, Central Florida โ97 gave a tandem keynote that began with Brother Sowell giving an oral and pictorial history of the Fraternityโs founding, followed by Brother Katz building upon that speech to present-day DU and finding oneโs DU Identity, which set the tone for the weekend. The attendees were also witness to the first seven of the programming awards to be given throughout the weekend, among them a new award that recognizes the Alumni Chapter of the Year, with the inaugural award going to the Cornell Chapter alumni. In addition, the first of many multi-media presentations that were unveiled at each of the meal functions added wonderful meaning to the weekend. Friday morningโs undergraduate educational sessions led into a service luncheon, followed by an afternoon of community service, with DU brothers serving in several different Kansas City-area Boys & Girls Club locations. DUs received a rewarding experience, working with Kansas City-area youth and serving its national partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of both America and Canada. This annual LI event is always a highlight of the weekend. Friday evening, with everyone in coat and tie, the brothers attended the Initiation Banquet. Following the meal, with the lead-in provided by another video presentation, the crowd stood to the music of the Delta Upsilon Ode as the Initiation team entered the room and took the stage. The Model Initiation was conducted, where seven men were officially initiated into the
A
Fraternity. The ceremony was presided over by Brothers Dave Maguire, Southern Illinois โ73 as Master; Joshua Katz, Central Florida โ97 as Examiner; Greg Lamb, Iowa โ94 as Chief Marshal; and Tyson Vaughn, Miami โ98, as Chaplain, with Brother Terry L. Bullock, Kansas State โ61 delivering an inspirational charge in his usual style. Those who were newly received into our Brotherhood: Bryce Buch, Iowa State โ08, Jeff Czerniak, Iowa State โ08, Brandon Clifton, North Dakota State
โ08, Chris Catoe, San Jose โ06, Jay Li, Toronto โ07, Kyle Lorts, Western Illinois โ06, and Jim Riley, Oklahoma โ05. It is hard to explain the exhilaration felt by both the candidates and the attendees when more than 350 Brothers stand and cheer at the words, โBy the authority vested in me, I now declare you members of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.โ Saturdayโs events began with more leadership and educational programming, followed by the second annual DU Educational Foundation Luncheon. The DUEF was the focus of the program, which included Oak Circle awards and the presentation of the Oak Circle and McQuaid Scholarships, as well as 17 Leadership Institute Scholarships that were funded by generous donors through the A New Chapter in Leadership Campaign. FRATERNITY NEWS Following the luncheon the annual business of the Fraternity was conducted at the Undergraduate Convention, followed by the alumni Assembly of Trustees. Brother David Herzer, Wisconsin โ54 was re-elected as Treasurer of the Fraternity, with Brothers Tim Dowd, Oklahoma โ73 and G. William Whitehurst, Washington & Lee โ50 being elected as new Directors of the Board, in addition to the continuing Directors who were re-elected. The Assembly also signified a โpassing of the batonโ as Brother E. Bernard Franklin, Kansas State โ76 was elected as the new Fraternity President, replacing outgoing President Ed Porter, Oklahoma โ65 who served ably and zealously in the position for six years. A formally decorated stage was the scene for the culmination of the weekend with Saturdayโs Grand Banquet, which began with an impressive video produced by Brendan Camey, Kansas โ08 that met with wild applause. The banquet included the presentation of the Sweepstakes Finalists, as well as the Presidentโs and Chairmanโs Award for DU Undergraduate and Alumnus of the Year, respectively, with the Presidentโs Award being awarded to Brother Ryan Wesslen, North Carolina โ07, and the Chairmanโs Award to Brother Charles Kavanagh, California โ64. The evening also included an outgoing tribute to President Porter, which was followed by Brother Porter giving his final message and presenting the new President, Bernard Franklin, with the DU Presidentโs Badge, and the reciprocal presentation of the Past Presidentโs Badge. Brother Franklin then gave a heartfelt and highly inspirational message to which the crowd responded enthusiastically.
The banquet closed with the triumphant celebration of the Missouri Chapter who was awarded the DU Sweepstakes Trophy, recognizing them as the chapter who had the best year in 2005-06. Having been a finalist for the trophy for the sixth year in a row, the trophy was undoubtedly an honor that was long overdue and certainly deserved by a model DU chapter. The Leadership Institute is one of the finest examples of Fraternity conventions in the entire Greek world, providing a wonderful mix of fun and brotherhood with exceptional leadership and educational programming opportunities for our undergraduates. As always, our appreciation to the DU Educational Foundation and its donors for making possible grant funds in support of the Institute and other educational programs of the Fraternity. Even better is to make plans to attend in person next year, as plans are already underway to make the Institute even better.
โASK BROTHER SOWELLโ Borrowing an idea from other fraternity and university websites, there is a new โinteractiveโ feature on the website. โAsk Brother Sowellโ will allow alumni and undergraduates to not only learn more about DU history, but also submit questions online to be answered by our Fraternity Historian. Whether it is general interest in DU or a chapterโs Associate Member Educator wanting to ensure his information is correct, โAsk Brother Sowellโ will provide the answers. A new question and answer is posted every two weeks. Visit www.DeltaU.org then click โHistoryโ and โAsk Brother Sowell.โ

The last of its kind: a carnival that travels strictly by railroad, the James E. Strates Shows. The carnivalโs owner, E. James Strates, Syracuse โ54, lives in a private railroad car for the seven month carnival season, traveling up and down the East Coast. His father (James E. Strates) came to America in 1909 and worked at a number of odd jobs. In 1919 he joined a carnival athletic show as a wrestler. He worked with wrestlers Nick Bozinis and Bill Platt. When Bozinis and Platt left the carnival world and returned to wrestling, Mr. Strates (in 1923) took over the then-named Southern Tier Shows. In 1932 the name was changed to James E. Strates Shows which was managed by Mr. Strates until his death in 1959. E. James Strates took over the carnival at 29, and now at age 76, is not ready to retire. His five children run the 400-employee business, but Strates says he canโt imagine not being on the midway. โThe romance of the rails and bright lights of the midway are too powerfully ingrained in my life.โ It takes 61 rail cars and 34 trucks to move the Strates Shows with all its magic and excitement to the next stop.

A Blue and Gold Carpet Event Great conversation and brotherhood were the main topics at the Kansas City Brotherhood Reception. Over 85 brothers from 25 different chapters attended the event. The reception, which was a Blue and Gold Carpet Event, was held on August 2 at the Hyatt Crown Center in conjunction with the 2006 Leadership Institute which was kicked off the following day. Halfway through the evening a presentation on the State of the Fraternity was made by Chairman of the Fraternity Board Brother Bill Messick, Lafayette โ68 followed by a Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation presentation by DUEF Executive Director Dave Schumacher. Next, the program was turned over to the International Fraternity President Brother Ed Porter, Oklahoma โ65 who handed out 10 certificates to recognize alumni in attendance who have been brothers for 30 years or more. Finally, undergraduate members from the Wichita, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri Chapters were in attendance to give a short presentation on the status of their chapters. The event would not have been as successful without the help of Brothers Bruce McKinney, Missouri โ74 and Greg Lamb, Iowa โ94.
Delta Upsilonโs On Merit Alone Expansion Program The North Florida Interest Group is coming along quite well this fall as they wrap up their member recruitment: they had over 60 men show interest in becoming founding fathers of the group. Earlier in the week the group participated in their first event against another fraternity on campus: Kappa Alpha v. Delta Upsilon for Greek Cup soccer. The North Florida Interest Group had about 40 men (both members and potential members) turn out for the event. It was a great way to finish recruitment! As a show of support for the group, the Florida Chapter of Delta Upsilon donated one of their chapter flags to the North Florida Group to use for the weekโs events.
Jason Clark, Director of Chapter Development, and Colin Finn, Leadership Consultant, have been working together with the Bucknell alumni to plan the recolonization of the Bucknell Chapter. Finn was on campus in late-August to participate in IFC recruitment week. He and several alumni volunteers were able to meet a majority of the 250 men going through recruitment. On September 1, twelve men accepted bids from DU. The Colonization Ceremony was September 9 and was attended by delegates from the IFC and Pan Hellenic, local alumni, and University officials. Members of the Lafayette Chapter and DUIF Board Chairman Bill Messick also attended and spoke during the event. The next step for the group is Initiation, followed by the reinstatement of their charter.
After Colonization in early May, DUโs Johns Hopkins Colony returned to campus with the hopes of adding to their Founding Father ranks. As this is being written, the Initiation ceremony 10

is scheduled for October 27 on the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University. The reactivation of our esteemed Johns Hopkins charter will occur mid-spring semester 2007. If you are an alumnus in any of these areas and would like to give some time and experience to help our youngest chapters achieve success, please don't hesitate to contact Jason Clark at the International Fraternity Headquarters: 317-875-8900 ext. 211. Other projects on our Expansion schedule: Syracuse, UNC Wilmington (fall 07), Oklahoma State (spring 08), University of Texas at San Antonio (spring 08). DU is always on the lookout for great campuses, whether we've been there or not, to bring the On Merit Alone Expansion Program and spread the Brotherhood of Delta Upsilon. Any ideas for other projects? Let Jason Clark know! For Delta Upsilon on any campus we need: Alumni Advising and support Campus invitation and support A healthy, positive Greek Community!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY! Interested in volunteering for Delta Upsilon? We need dynamic recent graduates to form our Expansion Committee. This team of DUs will aid all of our current and future Expansion projects by way of Colony Education, Campus Administrator meetings, Colony Development, DU Presentations, etc. DU will provide training, and you help DU grow! Recruitment Based on Principles The Promotion of Friendship, the Development of Character, the Diffusion of Liberal Culture, the Advancement of Justice. At the 2006 Leadership Institute in Kansas City in August, the attendees were challenged by a Principlesbased concept for recruitment. Recruitment by the Four Founding Principles was led by Rick Taylor, North Carolina State โ82, Paul Taylor, North Carolina State โ89, Aaron Clevenger, Central Florida โ97, and Mindy Sopher, North Carolina State University. They were assisted in the interactive forum by a dozen alumni facilitators. First considered by the discussion groups were the dictionary definitions of the words: Friendship, Character, Culture, and Justice. Next, the groups were challenged to define what these Principles meant to Delta Upsilon Brothers. These points established, the men were then charged to: KNOW the Principles; UNDERSTAND the Principles; BELIEVE the Principles; LIVE the Principlesโฆ and then RECRUIT the Principles. Relating these Principles to everyday life brings men to be able to recognize these traits and characteristics in those DU wants to recruit to become members. At the same time, these prospective Brothers recognize DU men by what they say and do, how they live, the recruitment functions they host and likewise make their decisions about whether they want to be members of Delta Upsilon. This may at first glance seem a daunting task. However, DUs take more than a glance โ they look more closely and see the tremendous impact they will have on their peers when they build their chapter membership based on DUโs Four Founding Principles. Watch the QUARTERLY for future articles about Principles-based recruitment. Send your questions and comments to: Recruitment Based on Principles C/o The DU Quarterly P. O. Chapter
The Fraternity Headquarters has announced the newest Colony of Delta Upsilon at Bucknell University. The ceremony was held on Saturday, September 9 in the Elaine Langone Center on campus and was attended by
Indiana
Bucknell alumni, IFC, PanHellenic, Lafayette Chapter members, and Chairman of the Fraternity Bill Messick. The Colony is an outstanding group of young men and represent the community and Delta Upsilon very well. They are also growing daily, as they have just added six more members. They are well supported by the Greek Community, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, and the chapterโs Alumni. The next step for this group, besides continual growth, is Initiation, which could be late this semester, or early next semester. Then there will be the re-installation/activation of the Bucknell Charter, formally bringing Bucknell back to the Chapter Roll. Thanks to all of the hard work and time given by the dedicated Bucknell Alumni.
The spring semester was an exciting time for Indiana DUs.They won the Intramural Cup among all fraternities with close competitions at times. The GPA for the spring semester was #1 with 2.985, including four members with a 4.0: Kris Renzi, David Szaranski, Brian Tabbert, and Kevin Schmitt.
โKiss-Offโ was again a big success. Cohosted on April 1 with Alpha Omicron Pi, 28 people were chosen by raffle to kiss the Ford Mustang. At the end of the competition, Chris Medlyn wearily (but happily) accepted the keys to the prize. On April 22, the DU Bike Team took to the track at Bill Armstrong Stadium for the 56th annual Little 500.The team performed exceptionally well and came in 6th. DU finished third last year and hopes are for a strong finish in 2007 โ hopefully first place!
North Florida InterestGroup
The DUs had their first event against another fraternity (Kappa Alpha) which was a soccer competition and DU won 80! About 40 men, (interest group members and potential members) participated in the recruitment-wrap event.

From Campus Clean-ups to Take Back the Night to the Boys & Girls Club, DUs are very involved in the campus activities and the neighboring community. They enlist the support and involvement of other clubs, organizations, and Greek organizations in their projects, with great success. 12
A comparatively new project is Adopta-Highway (Route 119).The men clean it every three months and have the DU letters posted along this major road so every Pace student can see that DU is involved and cares.

Chapter
Below is a portion of an article written by Kevin Durand, Technology โ07, that appeared in the Spring 2006 DU Beacon. โRush is a period that is confusing to most men who are interested in pledging a fraternity. They are bombarded with a plethora of decisions that define the remainder of their college experience. โAs many of these confused individuals, I was uncertain that a fraternity - any fraternity in particular - was the correct choice for me.With this in mind, I received several bids from different fraternities, but did not accept any of them because I was not convinced that any of them fit my personality. โWhile others in my graduation class enjoyed fraternity life, I developed close friendships with a large number of both affiliated and unaffiliated students. While others were living in a house with those

they had a deep-rooted bond with, I had an isolated single in west campus. While I endured this time in silent - and generally unknown - desperation, it was because I thought that the Institute had the same effect on everyone. I was just ignorant that a fraternal brotherhood can change one's perspective so drastically. โI discovered my ignorance in the last months of my sophomore year.Through a friend, I made my first significant visit to Delta Upsilon. I was collaborating on a problem set with the group in first commons and immediately noticed the profound difference between the manner in which a typical student and a brother in Delta Upsilon handles the difficulties of the school and in the way he conducts himself in general. He was dedicated, diligent, and most of all willing to help me, nearly a total stranger, understand the nuances of aerodynamics. These personality traits were something that I noticed to be distinctively missing from my life so far at MIT. I have always held myself to the higher standard and so resolved to explore what this fraternity
represented. โI had, of course, heard the name Delta Upsilon, as it is one of the premier fraternities on campus, but had never made an attempt to get close to DU. I began to look at Delta Upsilon and over the course of time, I made friends at the chapter and began spending more time there. I pledged during fall rush and moved into the house. As a junior moving into the house, I had many apprehensions as to how I would be accepted by my graduation year's pledge class. There were the unavoidable jokes and commentary on my ineptitude to make the right decision for me, yet the majority of the process was not only painless but enjoyable. I found that, by moving in, I was closer to my brothers than anyone else on campus, and the feeling has not subsided. โAfter almost a year since I really met my first brother of Delta Upsilon, I am myself a Brother. Now I realize that the promotion of friendship is not just an empty phrase, but an actual embodiment that we, and all Brothers in Delta Upsilon, must and do share.โ

A charitable bequest to the DU Educational Foundation may be expressed in terms of a specific dollar amount, a percentage of an estate , or as a residual or contingency beneficiar y. Wills are impor tant to ensure that wishes regarding assets will be obser ved and that the estate minimizes taxes or other expenses. The following language is acceptable for inclusion in the will of any DU alumnus: โI hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation with headquarters at 8705 Founders Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, the sum of $ ________; or the following described property: _______________________________, or the residue of my estate, to be used for the general purposes of the Foundation as the Board of Trustees may direct.โ
Where Do Your Dollars Go? Every year our donorsโ faithful and generous gifts go towards the support of many areas that help make our Fraternity stronger. They include: โ T h e L e a d e r s h i p I n s t i t u t e โ Since 1948, the annual DU Convention & Assembly have been included within what we now know as the Leadership Institute. For 55 years and counting, the Leadership Institute has provided stellar educational programming for DU undergraduate and alumni members. โ T h e Wi n t e r E d u c a t i o n a l C o n f e re n c e โ First instituted in 1995 as the Presidents Academy, the WEC now includes educational programming for chapter presidents, as well as the vice-presidents of recruitment. The three-day conference is designed to assist these officers in their leadership and management function to help build a stronger Delta Upsilon. โ T h e L e a d e r s h i p C o n s u l t a n t P ro g r a m โ This program was established to employ graduate members of DU to serve as representatives of the Fraternity who are trained to assist chapter/colony members and alumni advisors to advance the principles of DU. โ C h a p t e r S e r v i c e s S u p p o rt โ IHQ serves as a clearinghouse for an assortment of educational manuals, programming services, personnel resources, and management tools. Maury Mandel Scholarship Established
During the Foundation's luncheon at this past Leadership Institute, Chairman Steve Rowley announced the establishment of the Maury Mandel Scholarship Fund with an initial gift of $100,000.This permanently restricted fund will benefit undergraduate brothers through scholarship in the area of leadership development. This fund is a tribute to Maury Mandel, Chicago โ55 for the many years of service to Delta Upsilon. Over the years, Brother Mandel served his chapter as undergraduate chapter president and a member of the alumni board. He is a past member of the Fraternityโs Board of Directors and current member of the Foundationโs Board of Trustees, and is one of only four men to have been chairman of both boards. But maybe as important as anything has been his long-time involvement as the investment manager for DU. He is a 2001 recipient of the Fraternityโs highest honor, the DU Distinguished Alumni Award. Maury became a member of the investment committee back in 1977 and over that time, his pro-bono investment management for both the Fraternity and Foundation remain an unparalleled benefit to our Brotherhood. Just this past spring, Brother Mandel retired from business life--relinquishing those investment duties. The Maury Mandel Scholarships will enable DU to continue to build better men.
In addition to the academic scholarships, 2006 marked the second year that the Leadership Institute Scholarships were provided, thanks to alumni who have generously given through the A New Chapter in Leadership campaign. Alumni from various chapters have provided gifts through the DUEF to provide an endowment for their chapter to have one additional delegate each year attend the Leadership Institute. This year, 17 DU undergraduates were able to take advantage of this funding. The Oak Circle completed its fifth anniversary year by, once again, setting an all-time record! Total dollars contributed to the Oak Circle Scholarship Fund, through undergraduate and parentsโ gifts, totaled $14,268.The money raised through the 2005-06 Oak Circle appeal resulted in one additional $1,000 scholarship being awarded each year at the Leadership Institute. Scholarship recipients can be found on page 17. In addition to individual recognition, chapters are also recognized for their cumulative giving total in a fiscal year. Chapters are identified as Bronze, Silver, or Gold Chapters, with cumulative totals of $250, $500, and $1,000 respectively. This yearโs awarded chapters were: Bronze Level: Cal Poly, California, Central Florida, Colgate, Cornell, Fresno, Houston, Kansas State, Lafayette, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Silver Level: Manitoba, Northwestern, Oklahoma, San Top Giving Province Jose and Washington. This year also marked the third year for the Oak Circle โProvince Challenge,โ Province 12 whereby each province strives to raise the most money among all the provinces. For the province that raises the most money, each participating chapter received a discount on Top Giving Chapter their Leadership Institute (LI) registration. The 2005-06 winner of the Province Challenge was Province 12.The individual chapter that raised the most received one free paid Washington registration to the LI, with that honor going to the Washington Chapter. Lastly, the David D. McKeag Oak Circle Donor Award is awarded annually to an individual or chapter whose efforts had the greatest impact on the Oak Circle Program. This yearโs award was presented to the brothers of the Manitoba Chaper. The 2006-07 Oak Circle year began with a great response at this yearโs Leadership Institute, with undergraduates responding with gifts that totaled over $3,200, and we are already on our way to another record-setting year, hopefully adding a third Oak Circle Scholarship by fiscal year-end on June 30, 2007. Help us break the record for the number of annual Oak Circle dollars!! LIFETIME GIVING Presidentโs Club RECOGNITION โI could not begin to repay all I have gotten from my membership in Delta Upsilon. From my attendance at Fraternity conferences, I witness our many fine undergraduate Brothers who benefit from the work of the Foundation, and realize that our Fraternity is in good hands. I truly believe in the core principals and values of the Fraternity, and feel it important to support financially.โ Robert S. Lannin, Nebraska โ81 Started over 30 years ago by then-President W. Donald Watkins, North Carolina โ27, the Presidentโs Club honors all donors who within a fiscal year gift a total of $200 or more to the annual fund. In the 2005-06 fiscal year, we eclipsed our goal by having over 550 Brothers attain membership in the Club! Members of the 2007 Presidentโs Club will receive a new annual โyearโ pin with each renewal, and various benefits and advance notice of special events as applicable. Help us to reach a goal of 600+ Presidentโs Club members this year by planning to renew or join by June 30, 2007! We take great pride in recognizing the more than 550 donors who joined the Presidentโs Club in 2005-06 and we thank them for their leadership and support! Over 100 Brothers joined the Presidentโs Trust with fiscal year gifts totaling $500 or more.

A New Chapter in Leadership: The Campaign for Delta Upsilon In 2004, the Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation embarked upon a threeyear, comprehensive fundraising campaign to secure the future of its undergraduate leadership programming โ particularly at the chapter level. With the help of alumni and friends, the Foundation expects to raise over $2 million in pledges and gifts in support of chapter leadership programming, training and development. This goal will allow Delta Upsilon to provide 80-100 chapter leadership scholarships, thus increasing undergraduate attendance at DUโs impactful leadership programs such as the Leadership Institute. The following is a list of donors thus far to the campaign. If you have not already become a part of this important effort, we invite you to join A New Chapter in Leadership:The Campaign for Delta Upsilon.
