KEY INVESTIGATIONS
CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION INVESTIGATION
An investigation into possession of child sexual abuse material resulted in thousands of images and videos being located across multiple devices. The offender pled guilty, received a custodial sentence, and was added to the National Sex Offender Registry.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ENABLED EXPLOITATION
Investigators identified a suspect using artificial intelligence software to create child sexual abuse material involving 19 youth in the community. The investigation resulted in a
CROSS-JURISDICTIONAL CYBER/ FRAUD INVESTIGATION
A cyber-enabled fraud investigation involving a victim business in Delta led to the execution of two search warrants in Alberta, where the suspect group was located. Two individuals were arrested and multiple electronic devices used in the offence were seized.
INTELLIGENCE-LED CRIME DISRUPTION
In 2025, DPD continued to advance intelligence-led policing strategies to address repeat offenders, property crime, and organized crime. These efforts combined intelligence analysis, targeted enforcement, and coordinated operational deployment.
CASE SUMMARY 1
DPD investigated a repeat offender linked to multiple files in Delta involving theft, mischief, drug possession, and arson. The investigation connected the suspect to a multi-jurisdictional property crime series affecting several municipalities. Investigators conducted surveillance, reviewed CCTV evidence, executed a search warrant, and completed a comprehensive investigative package.

Organized crime remains a priority public safety concern. In 2025, DPD advanced this priority through Project De-Suppress, a focused enforcement and prevention initiative designed to address gang activity, disrupt organized crime networks, and respond to emerging threats.
Originally established to enhance gang suppression efforts, Project De-Suppress expanded its mandate in 2025 to include targeted prevention, disruption, and enforcement activity related to extortion investigations impacting Delta residents and businesses.

2025, DPD officers responded to a wide range of complex and high-risk incidents.
The following examples highlight notable files:
Arrested a male associated with the gang conflict who was found in possession of a stolen vehicle containing multiple restricted firearms and prohibited devices. The vehicle had been set up to commit a shooting or violent act. Charges were submitted and the individual has since been convicted.
Safely resolved a high-risk incident involving an armed, suicidal male on a transit bus in coordination with the Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team (ERT). The male was arrested, transported to hospital, and certified under the Mental Health Act.
Arrested a male responsible for multiple overnight thefts from vehicles who was also in breach of court conditions and wanted on outstanding warrants. Stolen property was recovered.
In response to a suspected home invasion, investigators uncovered more than 30 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Multiple firearms charges were submitted against a Delta man.
Responded to a high-risk firearms incident involving a female carrying a long gun on a patio near a school. The female was arrested and a search warrant executed at the residence, resulting in firearms-related charges being submitted.
Led a proactive drug investigation that resulted in the arrest of an Ontario man in Tsawwassen and the seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, cash, and weapons.
Worked with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), and other law enforcement partners to disrupt a vehicle smuggling operation, recovering multiple stolen vehicles from shipping containers and coordinating evidence collection and their return.

In 2025, DPD expanded the use of investigative technologies that help officers analyze evidence, identify suspects, and respond more effectively to criminal activity. These tools are now operationally integrated into investigative workflows, supporting timely and effective investigations in complex files.
VIDEO ANALYTICS TECHNOLOGY
In 2025, following a successful trial, DPD implemented video analytics software to support the investigative review of large volumes of video evidence.
The system assists investigators by identifying vehicles, individuals, and movement patterns across multiple video sources, allowing relevant footage to be located more quickly and supporting investigative leads.

Video analytics capabilities supported multiple investigations, including extortions and homicides.
FACIAL COMPARISON TECHNOLOGY
In 2025, DPD strengthened the use of facial comparison technology as a specialized investigative tool. The system assists trained investigators in identifying individuals connected to criminal investigations by comparing investigative images against existing images legally held in authorized law-enforcement databases.
All use of facial comparison technology is governed by strict legal and privacy standards to ensure it is used responsibly.
RESULTS
Facial comparison analysis has supported the identification of 7 suspects in criminal investigations since the start of the program. A recent identification resulted in locating a suspect involved in a credit card theft and fraud investigation in Delta.

AS FIRST RESPONDER
In 2025, DPD expanded its Drone as First Responder (DFR) capability, supporting rapid aerial deployment to assist officers. By providing real-time situational awareness before officers arrive on scene, DFR enhances response efficiency and officer safety, and supports more informed operational decision-making.
