LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT My Dearest Sxsters, As we close out another year filled with growth, sxsterhood, and service, I find myself reflecting on the incredible strength and unity our sxsterhood has displayed. This season of celebration and reflection offers us the opportunity to cherish the milestones we’ve achieved together and look forward to the possibilities that await us in the new year. The holidays are a time of warmth, connection, and giving back—values that are deeply embedded in the foundation of Delta Kappa Delta. Whether it’s through participating in charity drives, volunteering at shelters, or simply being there for one another, I am constantly inspired by the ways our sxsters embody our pillars. Your commitment to serving your communities and supporting one another has been nothing short of remarkable. This year, we’ve had the privilege of making a meaningful impact across our charters and communities, from fostering educational opportunities to advancing conversations around our philanthropic causes. These achievements remind us that when we come together, we can accomplish extraordinary things. As you enjoy this holiday season, I encourage you to take time to celebrate the traditions that bring you joy, reconnect with loved ones, and prioritize your well-being. Let this season also be a reminder to continue spreading the light of sxsterhood, whether it’s through small acts of kindness or reaching out to a sxster who may need extra support. Looking ahead, 2025 holds exciting opportunities for our sorority, from regional retreats to new initiatives that will further strengthen our mission. I am filled with hope and excitement for what we can achieve together in the coming year. LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Dear Sxsters, As the holiday season approaches, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the spirit of this time of year. This period of time is a time for connection, celebration, and giving back—values that are at the heart of our sxsterhood. Whether you’re spending time with family, reconnecting with friends, or taking time for self-care, I hope this season brings you peace and joy. Throughout the year, I’ve been continually inspired by the way you all embody our mission of service, support, and love. Whether it’s through charity drives, volunteering, or simply being there for one another, you make a real difference in the lives of those around you. This time of year is also a perfect opportunity to step away from the distractions of technology. I know it’s easy to get caught up in the digital world, but I encourage you to take a moment to put your phone down and be present with the people around you. ALUMNAE SPOTLIGHTS NEHA POTTURU SXSTER RADIUM | IOTA CHAPTER, UMASS AMHERST Neha Potturu crossed as a Founding Member at our Iota Chapter (UMass Amherst). She currently works as a data engineer at Meta, where she’s contributed to Facebook’s Civic Integrity team and now works on Instagram’s Business team. Her experience at Meta’s headquarters in Silicon Valley has been a dream come true, and has shaped her career and personal growth in significant ways. A Massachusetts native, Neha made a bold move to the Bay Area after graduation. Starting from scratch with new friends, random roommates, and a fresh start, she was able to create the life she always envisioned. Today, she calls the Mission District of San Francisco home, a neighborhood known for its vibrant blend of Hispanic culture, art, and the tech scene. Neha’s academic background in computer science and sociology paved the way for her to land a job that perfectly blends both interests. As a data engineer, she uses her skills to contribute to social media platforms, merging technology with the broader social implications of these platforms. Neha’s career trajectory underscores the importance of networking, something she credits as key to her success, and an attribute she learned from her time in DKD. Outside of work, Neha enjoys painting, decorating, and hosting events. She’s also explored the music festival scene, attending Coachella, Rolling Loud, and Portola, and has developed a passion for hot yoga as a way to exercise and practice mindfulness amidst her busy professional life. Neha’s time in DKD was instrumental in shaping her leadership skills and personal growth. The sorority provided her with a strong network of friends and peers who continue to be a lifelong support system and her cheerleaders. Through her leadership roles in the chapter, Neha learned valuable skills in communication, time management, and networking that have been crucial in her career. One of Neha’s fondest memories from her time in DKD is a CHILD Week cake jar fundraiser. The experience was not only a fun and creative fundraising effort but also a testament to the teamwork and dedication that defines DKD. Even after graduation, Neha has stayed close with her Iota sxsters. No matter where life takes them, her sxsters remain just a phone call away, anchored by their shared memories and experiences from their time in the sorority. Neha is proud to see DKD continue to grow and evolve! She loves following updates on social media, and she’s excited to see what the future holds. During the holiday season, she enjoys warm drinks like hot cider and chocolate, embracing the cozy traditions that bring comfort and joy.

ALUMNAE SPOTLIGHTS PRATHIMA REDDY SXSTER EMERA | KAPPA CHAPTER, UIC Prathima ‘Emera’ Reddy, a proud alumna of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc., exemplifies what it means to be a leader, mentor, and sxster. Since crossing into the Kappa Charter at the University of Illinois - Chicago in Spring 2019, her journey has been one of unwavering dedication and transformative leadership, leaving an indelible mark on the sorority and its members. Prathima’s impact on DKD is felt across many roles she has held throughout her tenure. From her early work as an Expansion RA for the Purdue University Charter—helping cultivate a strong foundation for our sxsters there—to serving as Vice President of Internal Affairs (VPIA) on the National Board from 2022 to 2024, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership. As VPIA, Prathima fostered unity among charters, ensuring the sorority’s internal operations ran smoothly while building bridges between members from different chapters. Now, as a member of the Board of Advisors (BOA), she continues her dedication by guiding the National Board with strategic insights, helping shape the sorority’s long-term goals. Her influence in these roles has been pivotal, earning her respect and admiration from sxsters nationwide. Beyond her work within DKD, Prathima’s passion for serving others extends into her professional life. She recently relocated to Austin, Texas, where she works as a social worker at an affordable housing non-profit. Her career is a testament to her dedication to empowering marginalized communities, a value deeply ingrained in her leadership style. What truly sets Prathima apart is her enduring commitment to the values of Delta Kappa Delta. She embodies the principles of empowerment, loyalty, and mentorship, touching the lives of countless sxsters. Her ability to uplift others and offer guidance has created a ripple effect, inspiring current and future generations to carry forward the legacy of our beloved sorority. Prathima’s journey is a reminder that leadership is not just about titles—it’s about impact. GIVING BACK THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Please see below for an overview of program and scholarship initiatives on a national scale: Memorial Scholarship ($1000) The intent of this award is to honor and commemorate the memories of our fallen sxsters of Delta Kappa Delta through academic and professional excellence. National Convention Scholarship ($150) The intent of this award is to honor the dedication and commitment of our senior collegiate members by providing them financial support to attend National Convention. DediKateD Scholars Award ($100) The intent of this award is to honor the dedication and commitment of our senior collegiate members by providing them financial support for their higher education entrance exams and study materials. Tuition Support Scholarship ($250) The intent of this award is to provide support to both collegiate and alumnae members of Delta Kappa Delta toward their tuition. Professional Development Grant ($250) Delta Kappa Delta is committed to the professional and career development of our members. This grant provides sxsters with an opportunity to further their growth and development. Charter Support Scholarship ($250) The intent of this award is to provide support to charters of Delta Kappa Delta for events (service events, signature events, CHILD Week, HOPE Week, etc.) being hosted on campus. The DKD Charter Support Scholarship will award 6 charters with a maximum of $250 per academic year. The award will be paid directly to the charter once an itemized receipt is submitted. Travel Grant ($200) The intent of this award is to provide financial support for members who would like to bridge the distance between our charter and support one another's events or attend leadership conferences (not National Convention or Regional Retreats).

ACTIVE SPOTLIGHTS BIBIDHA ARYAL SXSTER MOONLIGHT | THETA CHARTER, UNT
Meet Bibidha, a driven and inspiring junior at the University of North Texas who is truly making her mark both on campus and within our beloved sxsterhood. Majoring in Business Analytics with a minor in Psychology, Bibidha embodies the perfect balance of intellect, ambition, and heart. Over the past few years, she has embraced leadership roles through her involvement in the Student Government Association and Moot Court, where her ability to analyze, advocate, and collaborate has shone brightly. Her dedication doesn’t stop there. For the past two years, Bibidha has been a proud and active member of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc., and now serves as the President of our Theta Chapter. Under her leadership, the chapter has flourished, benefiting from her visionary mindset and unrelenting commitment to strengthening the bonds of sxsterhood. She credits DKD with teaching her essential life skills such as professionalism, leadership, and teamwork—tools she knows will guide her long after her undergraduate years. When asked about her time in DKD, Bibidha speaks with heartfelt gratitude. “I know it sounds cliché,” she says, “but DKD is not just a sorority to me. It has truly shaped me into the person I am today. The bonds I’ve made here are not just for my four years in college—they’re for life.” Looking to the future, Bibidha has ambitious goals that reflect her versatility and determination. Whether pursuing a career in the business world or venturing into law school, she is eager to leave her mark in any field she chooses. Her confidence, work ethic, and leadership make us certain she will achieve nothing short of greatness. We are incredibly proud to have Bibidha as an integral part of our Theta Chapter and cannot wait to see her continue to shine.

ACTIVE SPOTLIGHTS RAQUEL PUERTA SXSTER ROCKY| BETA CHAPTER, TEXAS TECH Raquel crossed into Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. through the Beta Charter in Spring 2022 as part of the Psi Class. During her time as an active sxster, she held several leadership roles including Treasurer, Fundraising Chair, Academic Chair, President, and Recruitment Advisor. These experiences allowed her to meet new people, expand her networking skills, and develop better communication and time management abilities. She reflects on how this journey helped her grow personally, particularly in appreciating the diverse backgrounds of her sxsters and learning to delegate effectively. For her, being an active sxster was a transformative experience that created lasting memories and lifelong friendships. To Raquel, Delta Kappa Delta is more than just an organization—it’s about building sxsterhood through service and finding a deeper purpose in life. While service can be done anywhere, she emphasizes that DKD has shown her the power of community and selflessness. Through the sorority, Raquel has formed pure and genuine friendships with sxsters who share her passion for helping others, especially children and those in need. Raquel celebrates the holiday season by honoring her Catholic faith and participating in traditional family practices. Her family attends posadas, which reenact Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter in Bethlehem, and they gather for rosaries for baby Jesus during the month of December. These traditions hold deep meaning for her, reminding her to stay thankful and grounded in faith, even during a season often centered on gift-giving and parties. She is majoring in Human Development and Family Studies with minors in Psychology and Health Professions, pursuing a pre-Physician Assistant (PA) track. Her dedication to service and helping others has guided her academic and professional path as she prepares to apply to PA school. Raquel’s passion for service began almost 15 years ago when her music makers class went Christmas caroling in her West Dallas community. They visited a local fire station, a group home, and a senior living institution, spreading holiday cheer. This experience, which brought smiles and comfort to others, inspired her lifelong love for service and the importance of making others feel seen and valued. It remains one of her favorite service memories and continues to fuel her dedication to helping others.

CHARTER SPOTLIGHTS PURDUE UNIVERSITY Since December 2021, the Purdue Charter of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. has grown into a significant presence at Purdue University. Over three years, it has expanded its membership, contributed to campus life, and enhanced cultural awareness. The chapter has become one of the largest organizations in the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), highlighted by the successful crossing of a Delta Line. Founding members have played a key role in establishing this foundation, with the last founder set to graduate in May 2024. The chapter’s dedication to community service is equally commendable. Members have consistently volunteered at the West Lafayette Public Library, contributing to events such as Halloween and holiday craft-making with children. These activities not only bring joy to the community but also foster meaningful connections that extend beyond campus life. Another significant initiative is their annual CHILD Week, a cornerstone event for the chapter that includes Prevent Child Abuse pin sales and other awareness campaigns. Through these efforts, the chapter has raised funds and brought attention to this critical cause, aligning with DKD’s mission to serve and protect children. CHILD Week also engages the broader Purdue community, inviting collaboration with students, staff, and other organizations to amplify its impact. These initiatives reflect the chapter’s ongoing commitment to addressing societal issues and making a tangible difference. The chapter’s outreach includes events like bracelet-making, mehendi nights, and movie screenings, fostering connections with other MGC organizations and campus groups. It has actively participated in South Asian cultural celebrations such as Diwali and Holi, ensuring representation on campus. Professional development efforts include hosting a resume workshop for South Asian students and organizing a Fall 2024 workshop in collaboration with campus organizations. The chapter also won first place in the Purdue MGC Stroll Competition, led by Saanika Gad, showcasing creativity and dedication. As the chapter evolves, its focus on cultivating meaningful relationships and fostering mentorship has remained strong. Collaborations with alumni have provided guidance and insight for members, while internal leadership development ensures sxsters are prepared to take on future roles within and beyond DKD. These efforts have strengthened the chapter's foundation, enabling its members to embody sxsterhood and service on a broader scale. Leadership and recruitment efforts have been strong, with 8 new sxsters crossing in Fall 2024 under Recruitment Advisors Sruthi Bhamidipati and Niva Shrestha. These initiatives ensure the chapter’s growth and values continue. In three years, the Purdue Charter has made a lasting impact through its service, cultural events, and campus achievements, embodying DKD’s mission and values.

CHARTER SPOTLIGHTS UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS The Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Delta at the University of North Texas (UNT) has always been dedicated to making a difference in the world, and this year’s HOPE Week was no exception. The chapter’s efforts during this annual event were nothing short of inspiring, with a series of impactful events that brought the UNT community together to raise funds and awareness for a cause close to their hearts: Akash's Libraries. Akash’s Libraries, founded by an alumni of DKD, is a non-profit organization committed to building school libraries in developing countries, ensuring children in underserved areas have access to educational resources. The week kicked off with a delicious DP Dough fundraiser, a popular choice among students. They also launched a Bingo Card social media fundraiser, which encouraged involvement far past their school. Next, they hosted an inspiring speaker event featuring Bindo Chowritmootoo from Bloom India, a non-profit focused on providing educational opportunities for children in poverty. Bindo shared moving stories about the challenges facing children in India and the incredible impact that education can have on their futures. Theta sxsters were particularly touched by Bloom India’s ambassador program, which provides an opportunity to directly support kids’ education by raising funds for scholarships and resources. They found it aligned perfectly with DKD’s philanthropy & mission, which would be a great avenue for sxsters to get involved with. One of the highlights of the week was a sxsterhood service event at Shiloh Garden, where sxsters came together to volunteer their time in a meaningful way. The garden, a community project in Denton, provided a space for members to bond while giving back to the local community. As the week came to a close, the chapter reflected on the impact they had made, both on a local and global scale. The funds raised through their hard work and dedication would go a long way in supporting Akash's Libraries’ mission to build school libraries and create lasting educational opportunities for children in developing countries. In addition, the partnership with Bloom India opened the door for future involvement, allowing the chapter to continue making a difference for children in need of education.

WHAT WAS NATIONAL COUNCIL UP TO? National Council Retreat, Philadelphia, PA | Oct 11-13 Two months ago, National Council gathered to discuss our goals, strategies, programming, and improvements for Delta Kappa Delta. As a council, we had the privilege of serving with Cradles to Crayons, an organization that fights the everyday battle to end clothing insecurity for children in their local communities. We also met up with local Philadelphia sxsters for dinner!
National HOPE Week | Oct 21-25 This past month, charters across the nation held their annual H.O.P.E Weeks in honor of our organization’s service-focus of children’s education throughout the month of October. During this week, we hosted a National HOPE Week to hear from speakers such as Arati Bhattacharya about her organization we donate to Akash’s Libraries! We also heard from Dharmi Mehta on the topic of menstrual health and health, along with her work with Ascent Wellness. We loved our week of service and advocacy for children’s literacy. AFA/NAPAAM Annual Conference, Indianapolis, IN | Dec 6-7 Members of our National Board attended the annual AFA/NAPAAM! We exchanged ideas with our fellow NAPA organization leadership, explored expansion opportunities, and discussed ways in which we can improve and grow together as an AAPIDA community. We also won several awards this year: Change Agent of the Year (Priyanka Patel), Professional of the Year (Dharmi Mehta), Outstanding Chapter Cultural Programming (Nu Chapter Bollywood Ball), Publication of the Year (Paradigm), and Social Media Campaign of the Year (Spread the Love). Congrats all!!

‘TIS THE SEASON OF SELF CARE The holidays can be a beautiful yet overwhelming time, with finals, work, family commitments, and social events all vying for attention. This season, remember that the best gift you can give yourself is the gift of wellness. Here are tips to help you stay well amidst all the holiday cheer. 1. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no when your plate is full. It’s okay to prioritize your needs. Communicate your limits with family and friends to avoid unnecessary stress. 2. Practice Mindfulness: Dedicate 5–10 minutes daily to mindfulness. Use apps like Calm or Headspace. Use grounding techniques, such as focusing on your breath or name 5 things you see. 3. Write It Out: Keep a gratitude journal to focus on the positive moments. List your priorities for the day or week to stay organized and reduce anxiety. 4. Stay Active: 10 minutes of movement, like yoga or a brisk walk, can reduce stress and boost energy. Make it fun—organize a holiday-themed workout or dance session with friends or family. 5. Hydrate & Nourish: Stay hydrated, especially during holiday festivities. Aim for 8 glasses of water a day. Enjoy your favorite treats in moderation, but balance them with nourishing meals full of fruits, veggies, and proteins. 6. Prioritize Sleep: Set a consistent bedtime and aim for 7–9 hours of sleep per night. Create a relaxing nighttime routine—avoid screens and opt for reading or journaling before bed. 7. Schedule "Me Time": Dedicate time to something that rejuvenates you—reading, journaling, or simply relaxing. 8. Manage Holiday Stress: Practice deep breathing or take a short walk if family gatherings become overwhelming. Focus on the joy of reconnecting rather than the pressure of perfection. 9. Reflect & Recharge: Use the break to reflect on the year’s highlights and set intentions for the upcoming year. 10. Ask for Help: Don’t hesitate to lean on your sxsters, friends, or family for support during crunch times. Remember, you’re never alone. Lean on your sxsters and our Delta Kappa Delta community for encouragement and support. Whether it’s sharing a laugh, studying together, or exchanging selfcare tips, we’re here for one another. Take time to rest, recharge, and nurture your well-being—you deserve it!
