Welcome to the first edition of Paradigm for 2025! I hope this new year has been off to a strong and fulfilling start for each of you!
This month, we turn our focus to sxsterhood, professionalism, and growth Our regional retreats are just around the corner (find more information later in the newsletter!), offering a chance for sxsters to reconnect, exchange ideas, and build on the momentum of the past term. I encourage everyone attending to come ready to engage, learn, and, most importantly, celebrate the strength of our sxsterhood.
I hope that all of our active and alumni sxsters will renew our emphasis on collaboration and personal growth within DKD. Many of you are balancing academics, leadership roles, jobs, families, hobbies, and service. I want to remind you that this sorority is a support system. Whether it’s
checking in on another sxster, participating in new initiatives, sharing your accomplishments, or setting personal goals for the upcoming year, this is the perfect time to uplift each other and make the most of our extensive network
That said, one of the most exciting updates this month is the official launch of our DKD National Internship Program. We have nine interns working on some exciting projects around data analytics, web development, health communications, coding, governance, and marketing. This initiative is designed to help undergraduates build professional skills while contributing directly to our sorority’s sustainability and success.
This is also a great time to strengthen our professional and alumni networks. Whether you ' re an active sxster preparing for internships and job opportunities or an alumna looking to reconnect, there are so many ways to support one another. Our sxsters would love to hear from alumni and would greatly benefit from your guidance. Small gestures like mentorship, career advice, or simply catching up over coffee can make a huge impact.
Let’s continue to uplift one another, celebrate our milestones, and take an active role in shaping the future of Delta Kappa Delta Wishing you all a wonderful season ahead!
In Service and Sxsterhood,
Rupa Ravi Seshadri
RUPA RAVI SESHADRI NATIONAL PRESIDENT
LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Dear Sxsters, Spring is here, and I hope you’re taking a moment to enjoy the little things the flowers starting to bloom, the sunshine lasting a little longer, and the fresh energy that comes with this time of year. Just like the world around us, we’re all growing in different ways, and I hope you take a second to appreciate how far you’ve come.
I know that school, work, and just life in general can feel overwhelming sometimes. The world moves fast, and it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos If things start to feel heavy, I hope you remember to pause, breathe, and recenter yourself. Step outside for a moment, feel the sun on your skin, or do something small that brings you joy. You deserve to recharge.
I’m constantly amazed by the love, dedication, and kindness each of you brings to our sxsterhood. Whether it’s through acts of service, being there for one another, or simply showing up when it counts, you make a difference And even on the hard days, you are never alone. A simple check in, a heartfelt “I’m proud of you,” or even just sharing a laugh can mean so much.
This season is about renewal, so let’s continue to grow together. No matter what’s ahead, know that you are strong, loved, and capable of so much.
Wishing you all a spring filled with warmth, love, and new beginnings
In Sxsterhood,
Thanmayi Parasu

ACTIVE SPOTLIGHTS
Amena Talajawala
SXSTER AZURITE | UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
Meet Amena, a senior at the University of Maryland, who is both a dedicated sxster of Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. and an active student leader. Amena crossed into our sxsterhood in the Spring of 2022 as part of the Bejeweled Beta class. She’s double majoring in Government Politics and Spanish with a minor in International Development and Conflict Management Alongside DKD, she is also a member of Kappa Omega Alpha, a professional public policy fraternity, where she serves as the mental wellness chair, organizing events to promote well-being for her peers
Amena has held several leadership roles within the UMD charter since joining. She started as Treasurer in her first year and then served as President the following year. “Being the President and Treasurer in the past instilled a sense of grit and dedication in me that I apply daily to my personal relationships and other extracurriculars.” She revitalized the chapter by shifting weekly meetings from virtual to in-person, supporting other position holders, and creating opportunities for sisterly bonding Now in her third year as an active sister, she’s a Recruitment Advisor for the next anticipated class and continues to play a key role in consistent recruitment for the chapter
Speaking about her time in DKD, Amena shares how our organization has given her “lifelong friends to cherish deeply”, who she insists she probably would not have met otherwise. The leadership roles she has held, and continues to hold have helped her grow both personally and professionally, while giving her the confidence to be assertive, rather than anxious “Being President allowed me to develop respect for myself as well, since I was able to see all the ideas I had in the past taking shape right in front of me”
In the near future, Amena plans to attend law school following graduation this spring, hoping to pursue specialization in constitutional law and civil liberties. Her ideal career goal is to become a judge, and as she says, “maybe even the first Muslim Supreme Court justice”! Her leadership qualities and sheer determination give us no doubt that she will surely take herself very far in every goal she pursues. We are beyond grateful to have Amena be the essential part of the UMD charter that she is, and are very excited to see all the success that lies ahead!
CHARTER SPOTLIGHTS
RUTGERS UNIVERSITY CHARTER
At Rutgers University, the sxsters of Delta Kappa Delta are all about service, fundraising, and most importantly, sxsterhood. Whether it's hosting events on campus, giving back to the community, or simply spending time together, they are always finding ways to support each other and make a difference.
Fundraising is a big part of what they do, with events like bake sales, pie-in-the-face challenges, and candy grams bringing the campus together for a good cause. They also team up with other organizations to raise money, making their efforts even more impactful.
Service is at the core of their chapter. The members take part in events like Scarlet Day of Service and other Multicultural Greek Council service initiatives. Beyond campus, they work with local nonprofits like Mission First and organize donations for hospitals like RWJ and St. Peter’s, as well as shelters in the community.
But what truly makes the Rutgers chapter special is the bond they share. From celebrating birthdays and going out to dinner to hosting formals at the end of the year, they make time to enjoy each other’s company and reflect on everything they’ve accomplished together.
For these sxsters, DKD is more than just an organization, it’s a family.
