ACADEMIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The cumulative GPA from all previously attended colleges/universities must be 2.0 or above. If 30 or more college-level credits have not been earned, students must meet a 2.0 cumulative GPA from their high school transcript. If 15 college-level credits have not been earned, students must also meet freshman credit requirements. Students who have been placed on academic probation, suspended or dismissed from previous institutions cannot be considered for admission to Delaware State University.
TRANSFERRING CREDITS
Delaware State University will evaluate and accept credits that have been earned at regionally accredited institutions, that are college-level and have received a grade of “C” or better. Transfer credit will not be awarded to remedial level courses (below college level) from previous institutions. College course credits obtained within the last 10 years are not accepted automatically and will be at the discretion of the appropriate department. Courses to be transferred must be equivalent to respective DSU courses. Credits are evaluated according to the specific academic program to which the student is applying. Credit cannot be granted for correspondence courses. In cases where courses from other colleges or universities only partially fulfill general education requirements, students will need to make up the credit hours shortage in the same department. Preliminary credit evaluation is available upon request to AdmissionsDocs@desu.edu. In addition to transferable college credits, students may be eligible to receive transfer credits from the military, Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), CollegeLevel Examination Prep (CLEP) and Advanced Placement Scores sent through College Board.
INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER STUDENTS International students must have transcripts from non-U.S. institutions evaluated by the World Education Service (WES) or the Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). If a student has attended an international college, they must have a course-by-course evaluation of their college provided by WES or ECE. If a student has 1-29 college-level credits at a regionally accredited institution, they must have a course-by-course evaluation from their high school provided by WES or ECE. Please see full international application requirements at desu.edu/admissions/international.
