On May 11, 1944, in the mountainous terrain of southern Haiti, Wilner Delismé (aka Nènè or Ti Lenord) was born to Lenord and Florinise Delismé in Miragoåne. He lived a life fueled by his faith, his love for his family and friends, and his passion for education and horticulture. Growing up in a large family, he had sisters Denise, Remonde, and Orina, and brothers Kesnore, Ednore, and Frank. In this small country town, his father taught him to farm at an early age. Little did he know the principles he learned would serve him throughout his lifetime. When he became old enough, Wilner told his father he wanted to go to school. He walked miles every day to learn, not just for himself but to share his knowledge with his home and village. Determined to be a light for his community, Wilner started teaching young kids in Miragoåne who lacked educational opportunities. He took his farming duties seriously, knowing that it was farming that paid for his schooling.
