Congratulations to the 2025 Winners of the Delaware Trash Into Treasure Art Contest!
With more than 400 votes, the public chose three winners out of 20 submissions.
The winners are:
First Place: Sharon Naccarato for Trash Panda
Second Place: Rachel Frebert for Echoes of the Estuary
Third Place: Michael Luck for Plastics are Suffocating our Estuary
The annual contest asks Delaware artists to submit original artwork that celebrates the importance of clean water and keeping litter out of our waterways. Twenty artists answered the call, with PDE then asking the public to vote on their top three favorite works. Voters responded through an online form by either viewing the submissions online or through an exhibit at the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center in New Castle, Delaware.
“We’re thrilled with the response we got to this year’s art contest,” said Delaware Community Coordinator Jasmine Chandler. “This contest promotes sustainability, creativity, and environmental awareness, all while engaging local artists, students, and residents. We’re so grateful to all our artists, to the Christina Conservancy, and to the State of Delaware for the funding to support this contest.”
The 1st place winner will receive a $350 gift card, 2nd place winner will receive a $250 gift card, and the 3rd place winner will receive a $150 gift card. All 20 submitted works will remain on display at the Route 9 library through April 30.
