A Note from Admissions Director Bill Burkhardt

Dear Pilot Nation, We have another excellent freshmen class ready to carry on the De La Salle legacy. During two weeks in March, we had over 200 students register for the Class of 2018, proving once again the demand for a Lasallian Catholic education is as strong as ever on the eastside of MetroDetroit. That demand is strengthened by the administration’s commitment to offering an academically rigorous curriculum for all levels of students.

The wide and challenging curriculum allows us to draw students from all over. They are drawn because of programs like FAST, AP, and the newly instituted International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. This is evidenced in our most recent class by having over 30 students declare they intend to pursue that IB diploma. When we reviewed the makeup of that class further, we saw another trend showing just how much our reach is changing. Over 45% of the Class of 2018 is made up of public and charter school students. This is a trend that we expect to continue. So how do these new families learn about our Lasallian legacy and why De La Salle is such a good fit for their son? It is through the many events the Admissions Office sponsors. Many of you have been to an Open House, Coffee Talk, Fireside Chat, or High School Night. However, during this current year we have introduced exciting new opportunities for students to learn about us. Those opportunities include : • Official De La Salle Summer Camps • Math+ Program for students in grades 7 - 8 • Collegiate Academy I encourage all of our readers to pick one event and bring a prospective student or family to it. So many families are amazed at the outstanding opportunities we afford our students. They are even more excited to find out how accommodating Tuition Assistance and Financial Aid programs are. We are committed to ensuring a De La Salle education is affordable for all families, especially our legacies. If you have any questions about the application process or admissions events, please contact us at 586-541-6220 or admissions@delasallehs.com. Go Pilots!
