New look for De La Salle

In July, De La Salle Collegiate custom wrapped its two passenger vans with the school colors, motto, and contact information. The new wrapping is in conjunction with the school’s new rebranding efforts to coordinate and simplify messaging throughout the community.

WAMS Lights it up and Paints it Black

For the first time since De La Salle Collegiate moved into the former Holly Junior High in 1982, the stage in the cafeteria has had signifi cant improvements. Used annually by the Wig and Mask Society (WAMS), the capital improvements include new purple curtains for the stage, a new light board, and 19 new LED lights on the stage. The ceiling and stage walls have been painted black. The cafeteria itself also has new LED lights. The WAMS Center, located next to the cafeteria, has been redesigned with student workspaces, a whiteboard, tack-board, and a lounge with couches and a mini fridge. “The credit really goes to the Class of 2019,” WAMS Executive Director Kevin Fitzhenry ‘03 said. “With the advent of Power Hour in the daily schedule, it provided the opportunity for the boys to work on technical as pects of theatre during normal school hours. As such, they wanted a useable workspace.” Additional education materials and instruction books on set construction, acting exercises, and stage combat were also added. “WAMS is one of the places that I was able to be myself and build bonds that I will never lose.,” said Damian Anonick, who graduated last spring. “The improvements that WAMS has revived in the past year will only help new kids coming into the program express themselves in new ways and form all kinds of friendships that will last just as mine have.” WAMS is currently preparing for the fall production of Clue On Stage, based on the cult movie and Hasbro board game. Performances are Dec. 13-15. Mass and dinner theatre will take place prior to the Dec. 15 perfor mance. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $30 for dinner theatre. Tickets can be purchased at ThePilotHangar.com. This year’s spring musical is Nice Work If You Can Get It featuring songs by George and Ira Gershwin. Performances date are Feb. 20-22 at the Warren Consolidated Performing Arts Center, located at 12901 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights.
