Transportation
We contract our bussing service with ServiCar of Michigan Inc. as well as other providers. Below are the operating procedures ServiCar has been following:
ServiCar has been working on this plan for the past few months using the CDC guidelines and all requirements by the State agencies.
Our current plan for seating is to have one student per bench seat and sitting in a diagonal pattern, to accommodate some spacing. This means that a 77-passenger large bus, which normally seats 51 passengers, will now accommodate approximately 25 passengers. We require all students to wear a mask or face covering while on the bus.
Additionally:
All our vehicles have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected following the shutdown. A daily screening of all employees with temperature checks and code in questionnaires if they have been exposed to COVID-19. PPE is supplied for all employees including masks, shields, gloves, and hand sanitizer. Drivers have routine procedures to follow to disinfect vehicles daily after every unload. Each Driver will have their own cleaning/disinfecting kit to use throughout the day. Buses will be disinfected and sanitized with a mister/fogger daily, end of day or early morning. Will follow all State and Federal required mandates.
ALL EXTRACURRICULAR TRANSPORTATION
We will consider the length of trips when determining whether we use our bus service or not. When feasible, we will consider having parents drive student-athletes to and from games and competition
This is a living document. It’s not set in stone, and will likely need to be updated as circumstances change. Our goal is to provide a roadmap – albeit not full proof – that supports reopening De La Salle Collegiate to make this enormous task less difficult for our students, parents, teachers and staff.
We have worked diligently to prepare this Return to School Roadmap that prioritizes opening and operating safely and providing our students with the highest-caliber learning environment whether in-person or distancing learning. As we have learned since March, the circumstances and responses to the COVID-19 public health emergency are regularly changing.
This roadmap will be updated as necessary consistent with guidance from the State of Michigan, the Archdiocese of Detroit, and other applicable sources. This roadmap is not a substitute for professional medical advice or consultation or guidance offered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Archdiocese of Detroit, the State of Michigan, or other government sources. It is important that we all act responsibly to combat the virus, protect our fellow De La Salle community members, and ensure the best possible learning environment for our students.
We understand that our parents and students may have questions and concerns as we navigate new circumstances together. We want to hear those questions and concerns and address them promptly. Please reach out to the following contacts:
Health Concerns: Ms. Nicole Zarucki Academics:Mr. Chris Dean Athletics: Mr. Dennis Parks Campus Ministry: Mrs. Jo Marie Ragona Dress Code Requirements and Virus Exposure: Mr. Joe Gerardi

Under these new and challenging circumstances, De La Salle Collegiate remains committed to fostering an environment where each student can develop his faith, character, intellect, and morality. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.
