STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL AREA II:

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

WELCOME

Dear Principals, Teachers, and Staff,

The goal of the Communications Department is to increase and improve internal and external Communications. This internal communications toolkit was created in 2018 to inform our DCSD family of who we are as a department and how we serve DeKalb County School District (DCSD). This toolkit also aligns with our strategic plan Goal Area II: Stakeholder Engagement and Communication. Following the Strategic Plan is our process to ensure that District-wide communication is effective and that our diverse scholars and families feel informed and empowered.

Now, more than ever, it’s important to keep our stakeholders in the know. In fact, we’re committed to timely and effective communications with our English Learner families, and that entails all staff working together to provide the assets and resources that our families need.

In this toolkit, we outline who makes up our department, what District communication platforms we use to get the word out, and how to get in touch with our team. We should also mention that some of our work, such as School Messenger, is handled in collaboration with the Information Technology Department. Communications works with many District offices and content experts to craft messaging.

We hope that you find this toolkit useful. Communications’ mission, first and foremost, is to support you in your daily goal of preparing DCSD students for the future. Like you, we are beyond excited for this school year. When we work together, there are no limits to what we can achieve for students, teachers and our beloved community.

Sincerely,

The Communications Department
