Redaktionsschluss 04/2021 Cover Alexander Kerski The images that adorn our catalog covers are the product of a design competition that is carried out each year by De Gruyter in cooperation with Lette Verein Berlin, a vocational training association. Participants in the competition were asked to create a series of interrelated images that are united by an overarching design concept. We would like to thank Alexander Kerski for his winning submission, which uses procedurally generated letter-based objects to create vibrant and abstract visual worlds. www.letteverein.berlin

Since the Enlightenment, German-speaking Jews have built an impressive cultural heritage. But the persecution and extermination of the Jewish people during the Nazi era together with emigration since the 1930s destroyed, fragmented or scattered much of this extensive German-Jewish heritage. This database compiles and collects biobibliographical information on more than 20,000 German-speaking Jews who were leading figures in literature, philosophy, religion, art, music and politics. Based on the Archiv Bibliographia Judaica in Frankfurt am Main founded by Renate Heuer, the database is a unique document of German-Jewish heritage. Users can search biographical information on over 20,000 individuals using precise criteria, as well as study their bibliographies on linked and scanned index cards. The complete database is intended to give a comprehensive overview of all of the writings or documents written by German-speaking Jews. In addition, the database integrates even more detailed biographical and bibliographical information on 1,300 authors included in the printed Lexikon deutsch-jüdischer Autoren [Encyclopedia of German-Jewish Authors]. The database is the only resource to offer this information in a structured, searchable format. An interface to open-access sources links the biobibliographical content to useful full texts.

The Encyclopedia of the Bible and Its Reception is the first-ever and only comprehensive reference work on the Bible and its reception. Since 2009 and the publication of its initial entries, the encyclopedia continues to be a groundbreaking reference work and is a must-have for institutions in the humanities, social and cultural sciences, as well theology and religious studies. The encyclopedia contains the most current state of knowledge on the origins and development of the Bible in the canons within Judaism and Christianity. It documents the history of biblical reception, not only in Christian churches and the Jewish Diaspora, but also in Islam, other non-Western religious traditions and movements. Unprecedented in breadth and scope, it innovates, however, by recording how biblical texts have been read, interpreted and integrated into thought, science and culture throughout the centuries. This reference is the pioneer which compiles the most recent scientific research on the reception of the Bible in an array of academic disciplines such as classical, literary and religious studies and archaeology as well as in cultural fields like literature, visual arts, music, film and dance. Its content is the result of an interdisciplinary approach which transcends a purely theological or religious perspective. Edited by an international team of scholars, EBR’s authors (currently nearly 4,000) work in over 50 countries. This ensures the international character of the entries and the up-to-date quality of the articles.

source with information on almost 16,000 people (741 daily reports, 5,795 pages) f The Gestapo headquarters in Vienna is the only one whose archive is almost completely preserved f Previously unpublished, rarely used records on the politically motivated persecution of “public enemies” f An ideal supplement to the situation and status reports from other parts of the ”Reich” f Non-restrictive DRM – allows for an unlimited number of simultaneous users campus /  institution-wide

The database National Socialism, Holocaust, Resistance and Exile 1933–1945 contains approximately 40,000 primary sources on the National Socialist state and the NSDAP, ideology and propaganda, National Socialist justice system and legislation, on resistance and persecution, and on annihilation and expulsion. Beyond the primary source editions, the database offers 18,000 biographical articles on perpetrators and victims of the Third Reich.

From 1934 on, the Gestapo Headquarters had to report all incidents to Berlin. These daily reports are a first rate source, barely used until now. Their purpose was to outline the mood, the political situation, and security conditions. The 741 reports (5,795 pp.) mirror in shocking complexity the focus of political persecution by the Gestapo and thus open the first chapter on the structure of Gestapo persecution, using the example of Vienna.

PUBLISHER PARTNER PROGRAM

OUR PARTNERSHIP In 2012, De Gruyter launched the Publisher Partner Program, initially signing Harvard University Press, which has now expanded and internationalized to include more than 30 partners. These leading academic publishers and De Gruyter share a common mission: to promote the publishing of premium, scholarly monographs in an increasingly difficult financial landscape, and to support scholars in reaching the right audience for their research. This international partnership promotes the distribution of high-level, scholarly literature in more than 20 key subject areas. Each partner's unique content has been integrated into De Gruyter's online platform and is accessible from anywhere in the world. Nearly 60,000 eBooks, as well as selected eJournals are now available on the De Gruyter platform, covering frontlist, backlist, and previously hard-to-find archive titles. De Gruyter is proud to disseminate research while partnering with the following presses:

EVIDENCE BASED ACQUISITION

 

Unlimited access to outstanding research Purchase decisions based on usage data

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE DE GRUYTER EBA MODEL? Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) is an effective way to build your library collection based on usage data. The advantage of our model? The library is in control of making the decisions. 

Get 12-month access to all eBooks on the De Gruyter platform or to a sub-set in one of our attractive packages. The library decides which titles to select for perpetual access at the end of the 12-month period.

As always, you benefit from the liberal DRM (multiuser, remote access). In addition to the standard PDF versions, you also receive all available ePUB versions.

A complete EBA package offers unlimited access to the De Gruyter eBook portfolio and all De Gruyter imprints such as Mouton and Oldenbourg. We also include all the eBooks we offer from our Publisher Partners, including content uniquely available from Columbia University Press and Harvard University Press.

28 degruyter.com

D Database

New publications will be added to your EBA access automatically, at no additional cost.

We aim to keep data management effortless. We offer: – monthly tailored MARC records – a dedicated MARC record contact – KBART files – targets with discovery partners – monthly COUNTER usage reports
