HORSE SPOTLIGHT
Baby Blu
Does everyone remember the sweet baby that came in with the embedded halter last fall? She has completely healed and has been living the life out in the mare field with her Mama, Cedar, her Auntie Ginger and the rest of the gang.
Blu has had a lot of firsts in the last few months. She was vaccinated, dewormed and got her feet done probably for the first time in her life. She also wore a blanket for the first time! She looks so cute and cozy in her plaid Wug blanket.
She has been working with Sara, our head trainer, several times a week on life skills such as catching, leading, moving her hindquarters and forequarters and backing. She has gone on short field trips down to the round pen and into the barn so she can explore the life of a pampered horse and see if it is the life for her!

Blu is making great progress in her handling and training. Even yearlings need to be well-versed in ground manners and being exposed to every day life happenings!

Bliss Bohuslav Equine Health Manager
Bliss has officially taken over the helm as our new Equine Health Manager. She comes to us with an extensive work history in both the human and veterinary medicine fields, which, coupled with her passion for horses, and experience as a farm manager, made her an excellent fit for DEFHR! Make sure to say hello and give her a warm welcome next time you’re at the farm.
