With school starting this month, we want to remind homeowners of the importance of trimming lowhanging tree branches and cutting back overgrown bushes/plants. Let's face it, overgrown trees and shrubs endanger us all when they block the view of traffic signs, pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers on our roads. Not only that, but overgrown shrubs that block sidewalks could cause pedestrians and cyclists to move into the roadway to get around them. Homeowners are responsible for ensuring their trees and shrubs do not become a safety issue. Our City Ordinance requires that tree branches have an 8-foot clearance with sidewalks and a 14-foot clearance over roadways. Thank you for helping us keep school children, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers safe.
