After years of silence, two childhood friends make good on an old promise to hike the Appalachian Trail together from Georgia to Maine. As they traverse the two thousand miles, past and present begin to blur together as the secrets of their estrangement begin to unfold. This is a story about friendship and forgiveness, and the miles we all must travel to let go, grow up, and ultimately summon the will and hope to move forward.
Captivating audiences with its deeply-moving and inventive tale of love and loyalty combined with an enchanting original score, Trails offers a profound exploration of the lengths we’ll go to keep from losing what we cherish the most.

For fifty years, 9-1-1 has served as the vital link between the American public and emergency services. Public education and awareness initiatives throughout the years have contributed in large measure to the incredible and ongoing success of the emergency communications system as a whole. It is imperative that 9-1-1 professionals, teachers, government officials, media representatives, and industry leaders are equipped with the tools necessary to continue these efforts in the face of an ever-changing telecommunications landscape, and that citizens of all ages are well versed in the role they play in ensuring effective and efficient emergency response for themselves and their fellow citizens.

National Animal Care & Control Appreciation Week April 14 - 20, 2024.
It’s a week when communities are encouraged to learn about what the job of animal control really entails and to be grateful for those who do them (National Animal Care & Control Association )
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week April 14 - 20, 2024.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW) is held annually during the second week of April to honor public safety telecommunicators for their commitment, service, and sacrifice.
NPSTW initially started in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California. In 1994, President William J. Clinton signed Presidential Proclamation 6667, declaring the second week of April as NPSTW. This week is a time to celebrate and thank telecommunications personnel across the nation who serve our communities, citizens, and public safety personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week. (CISA, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency.)
National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week is recognized April 14th through April 20th of 2024.
This week of recognition was established by Congress in 1991 to honor the efforts of “dispatchers” who work hard behind the scenes to keep their communities and responders safe.
Dispatchers, also known as Telecommunicators, positively affect the safety and health of others remotely via telephone or cellular telephone, 9-11 and radio.
Though they do not physically make the scene like officers, paramedics or firefighters, telecommunicators are the first public safety professionals to take control of a major incident, assist someone in crisis, render lifesaving aid, gather evidence, instruct callers on safety measures, and provide for the safety of first responders before they arrive.
Telecommunicators are often noted as the first of the first responders because of this initial response to an emergency, as well as the ability to perform lifesaving actions even while they are removed from the scene.
Though many telecommunicators do not put themselves in harm’s way in the same manner as a field unit, they are subject to many of the same stress related conditions, work the same intense schedule, and also make a significant difference in the lives of others. Sadly, their efforts often go unrecognized due to being a faceless member of the emergency response process.
Recognition efforts, words of encouragement from responders and citizens, and thank you cards from those positively impacted by dispatch are most welcome at any time, and especially during this week. (Kellie Bass, Telecommunications Supervisor)
National Volunteer Appreciation Week April 21 - 27, 2024.
National Volunteer Week is celebrated annually during the third week of April and this year it will be observed from April 21 to 27. This week-long celebration is about placing a spotlight on inspiring figures whose invaluable seeds of kindness through volunteering are bettering the community and our world in general. This significant celebration which was established in 1974 provides the perfect opportunity to say thank you.
If you would like to volunteer for the Deer Park Police Department we encourage you to participate in our Citizen’s Police Academy. The CPA is a FREE 14 week program offered twice a year that gives participants an inside view of the police department. Once the class is complete, graduates can join our Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association. The DPCPAAA organizes several fundraisers and community events, as well as assists the police department with various assignments. For more information on the Deer Park Citizen’s Police Academy and becoming a volunteer, please contact Community Liaison Sheila Plovanich at 281-930-2118 or Splovanich@deerparktx.org.
