Winners chosen from among 270 entries Kids Today Staff Kids Today, June 9, 2015 Easton, Md.—Design professionals Barbara Elliott and Jennifer Ward Woods, owners of the Decorating Den Interiors franchise in Stone Mountain, Ga., won first place in the children’s room category of her company’s 31st annual International Dream Room competition, judged by interior design journalists. The award was presented at Decorating Den Interiors’ 46th annual conference and supplier market, which drew nearly 400 to Jacksonville, Fla., in May. Elliott and Ward Woods’ design was for 12yearold who loves animals and wants to be a veterinarian. “She did not want anything pink and loves green,” said Elliott. “So, we chose aqua blue and lemongrass for the walls, while white furniture provides a brilliant contrast. Accessories and accents reflect her love of animals.”

Suzan Wemlinger of Milwaukee won second place for a room for a preteen girl who loves purple, but not pink. “It was important to make the room bold and fun, and to transition into a room for a teen,” she said. “Yellow and lime green play off the various shades of purple, and a stripe was painted around the room for a fun look.”
