ColorCanvas Usage Instructions What should I consider when applying my image to icing? • ColorCanvas™ works best on buttercream toppings. • Buttercream frosting needs to be fresh and cannot have a crust, we recommend applying the image as soon as the cake is frosted. • If you do use whipped frosting (or something similar), apply the image as close to the time of the event as possible or try a Printable® which is a thicker PhotoCake® media and is less susceptible to the moisture in the frosting.
What is the recommended way to apply an image to icing? • When applying the image, smooth from the center of the image first and then out to the edges. • Prior to applying paper to icing, it is not recommended to spritz the cake with water.
What should I do if the paper won’t come off the backing paper? • Gently roll the back of the paper against the table edge to release or place in the fridge/freezer for 1-3 minutes.
The colors in the image have faded, how can I prevent this? • Many edible colors can be sensitive to light, especially pinks, purples, and some reds. It is best to avoid direct exposure to sunlight and fluorescent lights.
Can ColorCanvas decorations be frozen? • Yes, the decoration can be frozen after application. It is important to take precautions with freeze/thaw cycles to avoid build-up of ice crystals. It is best to thaw finished frozen decorated products slowly, preferably in a refrigerator, uncovered, to avoid running of colors and sweating.
