Bioethanol - a Sustainable Fuel
Bioethanol, also known as spirit or alcohol, is produced for a variety of purposes, including as a fuel. The production of bioethanol involves the fermentation of sugar or starchy crops such as sugar cane, corn or grain.
Today, bioethanol has a number of uses, including as a fuel for cars and in production processes in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries. Another interesting interesting application is as a fuel in Decoflame’s bio-fireplaces.
Environmentally Friendly Combustion
During combustion, bioethanol is converted into water and vapour vapourised carbon dioxide (CO2). The released CO2 is absorbed by plants through photosynthesis, and this cycle of formation and combustion creates a form of energy recycling. Bioethanol is therefore considered a carbonneutral fuel.
Efficient Energy Use
Bioethanol is highly flammable and burns cleanly, eliminating the need for expensive flues, chimneys and maintenance costs.
Safe Storage and Handling
Bioethanol is classified as a flammable liquid and is regulated by international standards.
Before using Decoflame’s bioethanol fireplaces, it is important to know and comply with the rules for safe storage, handling, refuelling and use of this fuel.
Also keep bioethanol out of the reach of children and follow local regulations.
Bioethanol vs. Denatured Bioethanol
Due to global regulations, 100% pure bioethanol cannot be sold for human consumption.
Therefore, bioethanol is denatured with various substances for retail purposes, such as denatured ethanol, methylated spirits and denatured alcohol.
Does Bioethanol Create Odors?
Bioethanol is usually odorless but when burned, it might emit a faint alcohol-like smell. This odor is usually subtle, particularly in well-ventilated areas.
Quality bioethanol fireplaces are designed to minimize odors during combustion. Using appropriate bioethanol and ensuring proper ventilation can guarantee a pleasant and nearly odor-free experience

Bioethanol and Decoflame Fireplaces
All Decoflame bio-fireplaces must use bioethanol with a purity level between 96.5% and 97.5%. The recommendation is to use Decoflame’s quality bioethanol with an alcohol percentage of 96.5%, as the use of lower ethanol content can cause odour and potentially damage the bio fireplace.
It is also important that the bioethanol does not contain additives such as fragrances and flavourings.

What is a Hybrid Mist Burner?
Hybrid Mist uses electricity and deminieralised water exclusively. Like our bio fireplaces, there is no need for either chimney or ventilation. It is good design combined with consideration for the environment.
The fireplace has been developed with a technology that atomizes the water and turns it into steam. The steam can be electronically controlled and lit up by built-in LED lights, which give the illusion of real flames. There are LEDs on both sides of the burner, for a natural effect.
No Requirement for an Actual Fire or Heat
For those who are not interested in heat and open fire in their home, this is both a cosy and sensible solution. Hybrid Mist is also suitable for new homes where there may be a dry indoor climate, as it gives off a bit of moisture to the room.
It is one of few models on the market in which water does not condense on the top. That is because the top plate is heated and thus prevents condensation from forming. A special anti-dew Nanocover can be ordered, and is applied to the glasses by the manufacturer.
Convertible Solutions
Hybrid Mist is compatible with most of our casings. Among others, the bestseller Montreal. Since the model is convertible, one can choose to exchange the Hybrid Mist with either an electronical or manual bioethanol burner.
It is a smart and easy solution that allows you to enjoy the cosiness of the fireplace all year round.
What is demineralised water?
Demineralised water, also known as deionized water, is water that has undergone a process to remove minerals and ions, making it highly purified. This purification process involves passing water through ion exchange resins or other specialized filters to eliminate ions like calcium, magnesium, and sodium.
Demineralised water prevents the buildup of mineral deposits in the fireplace system, which can lead to clogging and reduced efficiency over time.
Additionally, the absence of minerals in demineralised water helps prevent corrosion in metal components of the fireplace, prolonging its lifespan.
You must therefore use demineralised water instead of normal tap water.
Demineralised water - can be bought in several places. You can also buy a filtering machine to make your own demineralised water from Decoflame and BWT, among others.
