What is IoT? The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the concept of connecting appliances and devices to the internet. With the advancement of technology and the emergence of cheap computer chips and high bandwidth, trillions of devices are now connected to the internet, even our day-to-day appliances including but not limited to toothbrushes, microwaves, air conditioners, fitness devices, and self-driving cars. These smart devices share the data through the IoT gateway they are connected to or other edge devices where the data is either analyzed locally or in the cloud. Although people can interact with these smart devices, they perform most of their work without intervention from humans.
