The project fulfills the concept of Inspire, Connect and Transform through many important design features. The space planning is straight forward and through the use of windows and skylights all the spaces are connected through a color palette, geometric shapes and patterns and by a visual connection into other spaces. Art is such an important factor in connecting all cultures. The community center will reflect this fact through the location of the Arts and Crafts room and by making Art an important feature in all areas throughout the space. The Community Center will be a place where all members of the Community will feel inspired, transformed and connected to each other, to their Community and to Art.

The Urban Boutique Hotel
The design focused on three functionally different spaces within the building. The focal spaces are the lobby of a midsized boutique hotel, a retail space and a restaurant. While each space is funtionally different the design honored the original goal of Township 9 and embraced the rich history of the original cannery site. ,QWHULRU DUFKLWHFWXUDO GHWDLOV DQG ÀQLVKHV VXFK DV columns, trusses, steel beams, reclaimed brick, reclaimed barnwood, reclaimed hardwood create an environment that is rustic, gritty, urban and contemporary. Township 9 is near the FRQÁXHQFH of the American River and Sacramento River. The two Rivers have

Each space took an architectural detail that was part of the original cannery site and made that element a feature of the space. The lobby of the hotel features massive columns covered in reclaimed brick. The retail space features trusses WKDW \RX ZRXOG ÀQG LQ WKH EXLOGLQJ RI D ZDUHKRXVH RU D EDUQ 7KH restaurant features steel beams that are exposed and run through the space as well as twisted brick columns which symbolizes the twisted combination of an urban contemporay setting amid the rich history of the former cannery site.

CONCEPT: SIMPLICITY AND COMPLEXITY
The owner of Ella Dining room and Bar has requested design services for a new medium sized UHVWDXUDQW WKDW LV ÀQH GLQLQJ ZLWK D social urban twist. The restaurant is appropriatately called Twist. The owners have strong relationships with local farmers, growers, ranchers, and artisans. They desire to express that relationship in the restaurant. The design of Twist gives the guest a social dining experience WKDW UHà HFWV WKH RZQHUV JRDOV RI D VWURQJ VHQVH RI IDPLO\ FRPPXQLW\ DQG VXVWDLQDEOH practices. This idea of simplicity and complexity were expressed throughout the design by using a clustered spatial organization that will allow different types of dining experiences to occur.
