Care Navigators

Who Are We?

Our team of expert care navigators provide case management to people with and affected by HIV. We connect you with skilled providers across North Texas and stay with you throughout your treatment journey.

HIV/STI Testing and Counseling We provide FREE and confidential rapid HIV/STI testing and counseling to persons 13 and older.

The Community Prevention and Intervention Unit (CPIU) within the UT Southwestern Department of Internal Medicine offers a range of free or low-cost high-quality sexual health services to North Texas residents.

Intervention Services

The Youth Program

This program targets at-risk youth populations ages 13-24 in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. All services are confidential and intended to educate youth on sexual health basics and provide resources for HIV/STI support.

As members of the Dallas Family Access Network (DFAN), we connect women, children, infants, and youth who are HIV+ with healthcare and community resources to meet all of your care needs.

Our team of expert care navigators will guide you through your care plan by providing the following.

Preconception Counseling

Sexual Health Education

Our preconception counseling services identify and manage risks for women with HIV that could harm the woman or the child.

Assistance with Understanding and Completing Medical Paperwork Financial Counseling and Linkage to Community Resources Coordinating Access to Partner Clinics and Social Services Organizations

Prevention Services Through our Project Impact program, we promote health and equality by implementing preventative HIV/STI services including screening and testing, referring qualified HIV+ clients to our Intervention Team for linkage to care and support services, and coordinating educational activities through community partnerships.

Health Education

We provide health education services to clinics, schools, organizations, and community groups upon request. Health educators are available to provide presentations on STDs and HIV.

Linkage to Care

Through a partnership with our Intervention Team, we assist clients newly diagnosed with HIV and HIV-positive clients who are out of care with access to medical care and support services.

Outreach Services

Our program operates an outreach-testing program that provides testing for HIV/STIs in areas of high morbidity throughout North Texas. The outreach staff are equipped with mobile testing van and a testing RV to provide testing in areas where disease transmission is likely to be relatively high or to have recently occurred.
