FIRST WORLD WAR CENTENARY
A
ugust 2014 will mark one hundred years since the outbreak of World War One. To commemorate this significant milestone in world history, and to remember the 128 Dean Close boys known to have given their lives at that time, there will be a year-long programme of events and activities at School. This programme will help the younger generation of Decanians to understand the sacrifices made, the horrors suffered and the lessons learned.

HISTORY DEPARTMENT Battlefields Trip 31 pupils travelling to France and Belgium to visit the battlefields. 9 November CHOIR Chapel Choir invited to sing in the presence of The Queen at the Royal British Legion Remembrance Service held at the Royal Albert Hall and broadcast on BBC1. 10 November WHOLE SCHOOL Remembrance Service in the School Chapel.
