Golfing With New Jersey’s Iron Man

Golfers unite! Join us on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Suburban Golf Club in Union for the Ken Daneyko Golf Classic, an annual event to raise funds for the Center for Great Expectations. In addition to a great day of golf, kicked off with a spectacular brunch on the patio high above the course, golfers look forward to the Grand Cocktail Reception/Dinner that follows a great day of golf. A silent auction completes the event as golfers take home unique items at bargain prices. To add to the excitement, Fullerton Ford and Prestige BMW are each generously sponsoring the hole-in-one car contests. Florez Cigars is providing cigars for all our golfers. Possible celebrities joining the event this year are the tournament’s namesake, Ken Daneyko, NJ Devils legend and 3-time Stanley Cup Champion, Heavy Weight Boxing Champ Gerry Cooney, Tony Siragusa, Super Bowl XXV Champ and Fox Sports Commentator, Grant Marshall, former Devil and 2time Stanley Cup Champion, Jimmy Dowd, former Devil and Stanley Cup Champion, Ron Duguay, former NY Rangers star, Bart Oates, former NY Giant and 3-time Super Bowl Champion, and David Wells, former Yankees star. Ed Stankiewicz, a member of the Board of Directors at the Center, has once again taken the helm to chair the event, making this his 12th year of creating a memorable event. Ed is ready to sign you up to play or to attend the dinner. He can be reached at 908-930-9355. To play golf and enjoy all the activities is $350 per golfer, and to attend the dinner only, $100. Sponsorships are available, as well as the opportunity to take an ad in the golf journal. The Suburban course is renowned as an A.J. Tillinghast course, and offers a memorable round of golf followed by superb food, prizes and awards and all for a wonderful cause. Join us for the annual Ken Daneyko Golf Classic and make a difference in the lives of homeless pregnant women and their children. DFC ELECTIONS 2016 – 2017

Nominations for the 2016-2017 Executive Team were conducted at the May 16th DFC General Meeting. Only one nomination each was made for the offices of Vicepresident and Officer at Large. There were three nominations for the four Board Member positions in this year’s election.

The incumbents for the offices of President, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Secretary were not eligible to be nominated as they have served the limit of consecutive terms by the DFC Bylaws. The Executive Team, by authority of Article IX, Amendments to the Bylaws, Section 4. Waiver of Sections. Any section of the bylaws may be waived at any meeting only by affirmative vote of two-thirds of the entire executive team, voted to suspend the bylaw, Article II, Section 1, qualifications and Section 3, term of office such that if no eligible candidate is nominated, the qualifications and/or term of office be suspended to allow the incumbent to remain in office until another qualified candidate is appointed as a result of the vacancy.

As a result of the above suspension of the bylaws, the incumbents for the offices of President, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Secretary were asked to remain in office as is done in many Corporate Boards of Directors. The President, Treasurer and Membership Secretary accept the appointment. The Secretary declined that appointment.

Therefore, in accordance with the DFC Bylaws, ARTICLE IV - ELECTION OF OFFICERS: In cases where a position is uncontested, the Chairperson of the Nominations Committee shall instruct the Secretary to cast one vote for the individual and that person is deemed duly elected. The President of the DFC will likewise instruct the Secretary to do this action and record it in the official minutes. The position, thus being filled, will not be listed for voting on the election ballot at the June meeting.

Since there were no contested offices for this year’s elections, no ballot will be sent to eligible voting members. All officers assume their respective offices on July 1st .
