The Good Boss Javier Bardem stars in this Spanish comedy as Julio Blanco, the owner of an industrial scales manufacturer who interferes in the lives of his employees in order to prepare for an upcoming inspection where he can receive a prestigious award. When a disgruntled former employee is denied reinstatement, he decides to make sure Blanco will not win the prize. Directed by Fernando León de Aranoa, this film is the Spanish entry for Best International Feature Film. Let It Be Morning Eran Kolirin directs this drama, based on the Hebrew-language novel of the same name by Sayed Kashua, about Sami (Alex Bakri), a Palestinian-born Israeli citizen who is suprised to find himself unable to return home to Jerusalem following his brother’s wedding because of a military blockade. This film has been submitted as the Israeli entry for Best International Feature Film.

Drunken Birds Directed by Ivan Grbovic, this Canadian drama follows Willy (Jorge Antonio Guerrero), a Mexican drug runner who falls in love with the wife of a cartel leader who both flee out of fear. Willy believes his love fled to Montreal, so he takes a job as a seasonal worker at Ferme Vinet in Quebec. Unbeknownst to Willy, his presence creates a rift in the Vinet family which sends him down a path that leads him to be accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Tereza37 Lana Baric stars as Tereza, a 37-year-old woman who has been married for a long time and suffered through several miscarriages. When her gynecologist makes a joke that she should try to sleep with someone other than her husband to get pregnant, Tereza begins to question her marriage and relationships. Directed by Danilo Šerbedžija, this drama is Croatia’s entry for Best International Feature Film.

Casablanca Beats Written and directed by Nabil Ayouch, this drama was the first Moroccan film in almost 60 years to be selected to compete in the Palme d’Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and is Morocco’s entry for Best International Feature Film. The film takes place at a cultural center in Sidi Moumen, in Casablanca, where a group of students are inspired by their new teacher Anas (Anas Basbousi), a former rapper, to pursue their dreams of putting on a hip-hop concert. Luzzu Written and directed by Alex Camilleri, this drama follows Jesmark (Jesmark Scicluna), a fisherman trying to support his family. When his baby is having health problems and he needs money, he turns to the risky world of black-market fishing. Titane Winning director Julia Ducournau the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Titane merges the world of horror and the erotic symbolism of automobiles. After a series of crimes, Alexia (Agathe Rousselle) flees and assumes the identity of a young boy who disappeared 10 years prior. Living with Vincent (Vincent Lindon), the father of the boy, becomes increasingly difficult as Alexia’s pregnancy has some strange side effects. The Hand of God/ È Stata la Mano di Dio Returning to his hometown of Naples, writer-director Paolo Sorrentino tells a personal story of his youth in Netflix’s Italian drama, which is the Italian submission for Best International Feature Film.

Taking place in Naples during ’80s, the film tells the story of Fabietto Schisa (Filippo Scotti) whose tumultuous life is filled with unexpected highs and lows. Prayers for the Stolen/ Noche De Fuego Directed by Tatiana Huezo, this Mexican drama takes place in rural village Guerrero, which has been plagued by the drug trade and human trafficking. Three young girls approach adolescence as they deal with life in a town at war. This film was chosen as the Mexican entry for Best International Feature Film. ROWDY PICTURES

Vinothraj tells the tale of an abusive alcoholic who drags his son along as he searches for his wife, who he drove away, in this Indian Tamil-language drama, also known as Koozhangal. Hive Blerta Basholli makes her directorial debut in this Kosovan drama inspired by the true story of Fahrije Hoti. She fights determinedly against the patriarchy by creating her own small honey and ajvar business with other war widows.
