We are honoured to once again work with the progressive breeders of The Gathering. Last years inaugural sale was a large success with cattle selling nation wide and into the USA. All that attended last years event commended the breeders for diving deep into their respected programs to offer the very best and this year is no different.

The herd bulls on offer this year are truly the best of the best. We feel these bulls have checked all the boxes to qualify them as breed enhancing sires as they are stacked with phenotype, genotype and their numbers are right. The open heifers are selected off the front end and have the look to compete in the show ring but more importantly, they are designed to be front end production females down the road. A select offering of bred heifers and cows will highlight this event with exciting services that are sure to have a great ROI for the successful purchasers. As always, the breed’s most exciting frozen genetics with semen, embryos and select flushes will be on offer as these genetics are the quality to enhance any program.

The first weekend in Alberta is sure to be the place for all Gelbvieh enthusiasts as the AB/BC Gelbvieh auction and hospitality on Friday night, followed by meetings and a sale on Saturday with The Gathering Sale to close out the exciting weekend on Sunday. Lot 2B: This balancer sire prospect puts it all together, with such a presence about him.

Certainly by now his sire RWG Right Combination 5506 needs no introduction as the 3 time National Champion bull who has set every bar for progeny quality and consistency. Now match that to one of the premier young BEAS 2806Z females in the breed and is easy to understand why RJH First Distraction 1F is so darn good. Royal Western Gelbvieh Lot 3: This female is exceptionally hard for us to put into the sale. Her dam was our pick from the Gustin Diamond D sale females and has not disappointed.

DDGR 76C is a picture ready front pasture female with excellent body mass and a beautiful udder. We expect big things from DDGR 76C moving forward.

RWG Moonlight 8404 is sired by DVE MAGRAW 165D our pick from the 2017 Davidson bull sale. He has done a great job on his progeny adding body capacity and sound structure. Her pedigree and maternal backing gives her a strong chance to become a program improving female or even a donor cow in short order. She is a female we should be retaining to build our next elite herd sires from, but “The Gathering” represents genetics that will advance a breeding program and offer true breed changers.

Lot 9A & 9B: As a program we have never before offered a female with this much proven earning potential. This lot to date will represent the hardest decision we have ever made as a breeding program. Let’s start with RWG Kitty 5502 the cow family name says everything you need to know about building a breeding program. Kitty 5502’s pedigree adds value and sets her up to be one of the most profit orientated females we have ever produced. Being one of the very few paternal siblings to RWG Right Combination 5506 and we can’t say enough good things about our “War Admiral” daughters in production. They will be economic drivers for our breed. Kitty 5502 is backed by our most successful branch of the “Kitty Cow Family” linking to the fabulous Kitty 0301 who is responsible for both of our leading Kitty donor females (2534 & 6526). 5502’s dam, Kitty 2534 is most recognized as the dam of Blowin Minds, but her daughters are what we know her for best in our program. Sadly 2534’s Right Combination bull calf died last year in our show pen and was considered the highlight bull calf in our program! Yes that maternal brother to 5502 was that good even Lot 9B sire, JRI Gung Ho 282C51 standing beside pen mates of RWG Exact Combination 7409 and RWG Entity 7308.

Directly Kitty 5502’s first son is in our lead pen of off age bulls a moderate big bodied meat wagon sired by JRI Santiago 37C31. Her second baby at foot KITTY 8452 is a fantastic JRI Gung Ho 282C51 daughter who is exactly what we expect with the expectation to be better than dam. Kitty 5502’s third calf is an AI sired RWG Exact Combination 7409 mating that has unlimited potential. We didn’t sex the pregnancy as it would have just given us another reason to not let this female leave our breeding program. Suger came in calf from our pick of the Wishlist sale, and has continually impressed us since birth. If not for wanting to offer the best quality in this sale this heifer would not be offered up.

This heifer calf offers that in a very nicely designed package. She is sound footed, docile, with plenty of muscle. Her dam is a moderate framed, sharp fronted Warnock 612W daughter who is backed by some exceptional angus females. Her grand dam was a purebred black angus in our herd for 13 years, raising some amazing calves along the way. This is the same grand dam as RJH First Distraction 1F who is selling in this sale. RJH 7F is sired by one of our resident herd sires HL Masterplan 58C who has done nothing but impress ever since he was purchased as the high selling red Gelbvieh bull at the 2017 Severtson bull sale. Lot 13: Fir River Candy is the first calf crop of the impressive Sire DVE Genuine 194D. This heifer is big bodied, deep and correct made. Candy’s dam was our pick of the Jen-Ty heifer pen. Her dam is genetically backed by the breeds best, Astro and Fir River Chilli. Her sire DVE Genuine, was our pick out of the 2017 Davidson bull sale. Lot 15: Very fancy daughter of our calving ease bull Goodview Dan 102D. 108F started out with only a 64lb birth weight. She is very nice fronted and very docile would make a great junior project.

1C had the puzzle pieces we really appreciate in females we select for our breeding program and like always she was backed by a very strong cow family.

Lot 19: RWG Jasmine 8417 ET is a direct daughter of the 2016 NWSS Breeders Choice Bull Futurity Champion. Her dam, a long time donor female RWG 7105 has landed some of our more productive females, the kind that always have exceptional pay weight progeny. The 2017 edition of The Gathering featured a mature Jasmine female a granddaughter of donor 7105.

She was purchased by Severtson Land and Cattle and is now a donor in that elite breeding program. This young ET heifer calf without a doubt will go on to be one of the most productive females on offer.

A bull who is destined for greatness, his pedigree is stacked with all 4 of the leading cow family’s at RWG. He became one of the most talked about bulls in North America after he was chosen as the 2017 Canadian National Bull calf champion. He followed this up by headlining the 2017 “The Gathering” sale, selling to Prairie Hills Gelbvieh, ND, for $44,000 for ½ interest and ½ possession, becoming the record high selling bull in Canada. After flying through the stud process at a very young age, he went to the big breeding pastures at Prairie Hills and came in looking better than the day he was put out.
