SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES ACROSS ALL OF THE DUDLEY BOROUGH During the year Dudley CVS has clocked up more than 13,000 miles, putting staff on the ground in many of our borough’s communities.

EAST COSELEY AND WRENS NEST Supporting communities to achieve positive change.

JUST STRAIGHT TALK CIC (Coseley) Enterprise and funding support. Accessed funding of £45,000 through Supporting People, which helped JST to unlock a further £10,000 from UnLtd. Support with governing, business planning and policies meant the organisation was also awarded the Building Blocks kite mark.

DUDLEY AND DISTRICT MS SOCIETY 13 (Kingswinford and borough-wide) Support with volunteer issues, good practice and recruitment led to an increase in the number of volunteers for the group and an improvement in their volunteering experience.

BROMLEY TABLE TENNIS CLUB 14 Intensive work to support the club’s move into a new home, leading to the club accessing £3,000 to aid that transition.

BLACK COUNTRY NEUROLOGICAL ALLIANCE (covering all Dudley borough and the Black Country) Support provided through Dudley CVS’s Small Groups Route Map programme, which included helping the group to get its committee into place, providing training on being on a committee and financial management, and helping the group to develop appropriate policies and procedures. The group had help to develop a fundraising strategy, and support with funding applications led to a successful bid to Awards for All for £5,520.

TOP CHURCH TRAINING (Brierley Hill) 21 Business planning and funding support culminating in a grant of £10,000 to support its work with vulnerable young people.

BLACKHEATH MOSQUE 22 Liaising with the Charity Commission and the local police to give intensive support on the transition to a new board of trustees to govern the Mosque.

LYE AND WOLLESCOTE CHAPELS 24 Support to save this historic building, culminating in a £1.15m grant from Heritage Lottery Fund.

UNIT3SIXTY (Stourbridge) 26 Supported planning and development of this urban recreation centre. To open at the end of August 2014, this venue will boast a state of the art indoor skatepark for BMX, scooter, skating and skateboarding.

BREAD2SHARE (Stourbridge and borough-wide) 27 Social enterprise support on business planning, setting up and finance to this therapeutic arts project. With help from Dudley CVS, the business has secured £10,000 from a range of funders and expanded its operation.

SENIORS LUNCHEON CLUB (Stourbridge) 28 Helped the group to plan its activities, become more sustainable and access £4,490 from Awards for All to fund them for one year.

BLACK COUNTRY FESTIVAL 20 (across Dudley borough and beyond) Set-up support to help the group to become grant-ready and to run its events and activities.

PROVIDENCE OUTREACH GROUP (Cradley) 25 This informal group was supported to become constituted in order to allow it to be an independent, grant-ready organisation.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSING GROUP (Brierley Hill) 19 Built links with this business, culminating in staff members doing a team challenge cleaning up Wrens Nest Nature Reserve.

HOPE CENTRE (HALESOWEN) AND WOODSIDE 16 COMMUNITY CENTRE Supported to become two of the first purely volunteer-led organisations in England to be awarded `Investors in Volunteers’.

SPORTS NETWORK 18 Brought together 10 sports clubs with officers from Dudley MBC, Public Health Dudley and Black Country BeActive Sports Partnership to discuss future priorities and work, provide a place for sharing and learning from each other’s experiences and promote cross-sector collaboration.

BANGLADESHI DEVELOPMENT GROUP (Halesowen) 23 Funding support for summer activities for young people, resulting in a grant of £3,709 from Awards for All.

DUDLEY CHARIOTS (Gornal and borough-wide) Set-up assistance provided to this new wheelchair basketball club, including access to a small grant of £2,670 from the Improving Physical Activity Fund to kick start its project.

DUDLEY LITTLE THEATRE (Netherton and borough-wide) 17 Provided intensive assistance on governance, business planning, policies and procedures and helped the group bring its constitution up to date. This led to the group being awarded the Building Blocks kite mark.

RUSSELLS HALL HOSPITAL 15 (supporting residents and carers of Dudley borough) Urgent Care Consultation carried out here and at the nearby Walk-in Surgery by Healthwatch. Dudley CVS Carers Co-ordinator held regular drop-ins to help people find out more about the role of carers and the support available to them and their loved-ones.

FRIENDS OF SYCAMORE ADVENTURE (Upper Gornal) Support in areas such as funding, governance and volunteering. Through funds raised by the Friends group and support given by a range of volunteers and professionals Sycamore Adventure won the National Playwork Award for ‘Outstanding Playwork Provision’.

DUDLEY MBC (Dudley and borough-wide) Helped the Directorate of Adult, Community and Housing Services with good practice in managing and supporting volunteers and in developing volunteer-management systems to ensure high quality volunteering opportunities.

UPPER ETTINGSHALL METHODIST CHURCH Funding support for refurbishment works to the group’s church and community facilities. Awarded £11,000 by two funders.

BLACK COUNTRY WHEELS (Dudley and Brierley Hill) Enterprise development support for young people outside mainstream education.

HELPING HANDS WALL HEATH CIC 11 Legal and good practice support in volunteer management.

The CIC was also supported with financial management and cashflow forecasting and had help to develop its small grants programme and application procedures, allowing it to make a difference to local good causes.

KATES HILL AND SLEDMERE CHILDREN’S CENTRE Volunteer-management support through the Dudley CVS Volunteer Centre toolkit.

PHASE TRUST (Halesowen) 29 Funding support culminated in successful bids to Reaching Communities for £290,508 and Lloyds Foundation for £31,040 to continue work with young people.

HASBURY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION 30 Worked with local residents who wanted to secure the future of the empty Wall Well Sons of Rest building for the community. Support provided included business planning and registering the organisation as a company, resulting in the building being transferred from the local authority to the community association.

PRESTWOOD HOUSE (Kinver) 31 Supported this business with legal and good practice issues to enable it to set up a volunteering programme to challenge isolation of older people.
