THANK YOU for continuing your generous support of the Door County Maritime Museum!
During our 2022 year-end fundraising appeal, we reached (and exceeded!) our goal of $25,000, unlocking the generous $25,000 matching gift from DCMM Board member Peter Horton and his wife Jelaine. Thanks to your generous support, and the match from Pete and Jelaine, DCMM raised $92,408 from 187 donors!

The DCMM Board of Directors currently has two vacancies to fill. With a recent change to our by-laws, we have a new procedure for seeking nominations from museum members. Any current DCMM member or Lifetime Member can make a nomination suggestion/ recommendation to the Board of Directors. Nominations “may be made by members via petition to the nominating committee for consideration prior to August 1’ and can be submitted via email to Board President Terry Connelly at tconnelly@dcmm.org.
“The presentation of the nominating committee ticket at the annual membership meeting shall constitute the report of the nominating committee, and shall be presented for approval to the general membership by voice vote.”
The Annual Membership Meeting – including the vote to elect new members to the Board of Directors – will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 4:30pm at the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. All DCMM members are invited and welcome to attend!
YOUR Door County Maritime Museum is a proud member of the Council of American Maritime Museums (CAMM), founded in 1974 to bring together

institutions working toward the preservation and interpretation of North America’s maritime heritage. If you are a Sustaining or Lifetime Member of DCMM, you are eligible to receive reciprocal membership benefits to all 90+ affiliated CAMM member institutions! A subgroup of the American Alliance of Museums, CAMM acts as an authoritative voice on policy matters which impact on the preservation of maritime history.
In April 2023, I will be attending the CAMM annual conference, held at the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, OR. I’ll be leading a conference panel discussion entitled “The Creative Economy: Maritime Museums as Community Economic Engines and Anchor Institutions” with colleagues from the Columbia River and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museums and the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce. I have also been asked to join the CAMM Board of Directors, another recognition that DCMM is “on the map” as a leading maritime museum institution. You can learn more about CAMM and the conference at https://councilofamericanmaritime museums.org/annual-meeting/.
If you haven’t visited www.dcmm.org recently, I urge you to take a look! DCMM launched our brand-new website in March. We hope you’ll find the new site easier to navigate, eye-catching and informative. The new site was also designed to be mobile-friendly and accessible for all, something that couldn’t be said of our previous site. Many thanks to our partner SignalFire for the great new look and smooth transition.
