HUD Level I 50/50 Risk Share

DCHFA is one of 35 housing finance agencies in the nation that are Risk Share lenders. The Agency’s status as a Risk Share lender designates DCHFA as one of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) top-tier housing finance agencies in the nation. DCHFA is the only housing agency in the District of Columbia that participates in the program. By participating in the program, the Agency receives higher ratings resulting in lower borrowing costs and savings that are passed on to borrowers and tenants. The Risk Share Program is focused solely on affordable production and preservation. All projects must qualify as defined in the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.

DCHFA announced the financing of Randle Hill Apartments on the final day of FY 2019 and broke ground on this 195-affordable-apartment community at the start of FY 2020. The Agency issued $25 million in bond financing and underwrote $15.3 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credit equity for the rehabilitation of Randle Hill Apartments in Ward 8’s Congress Heights neighborhood.
