River Engineering

Shaping resilient rivers for communities and nature

DCCM’s river engineering services address the complex challenges of channel design, bank stabilization, and flood mitigation. Our team develops solutions that protect property, infrastructure, and natural habitats while supporting community safety and regulatory compliance. We use advanced modeling and design techniques to assess river dynamics, manage sediment transport, and restore ecological function. Our projects often involve collaboration with stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and environmental experts to achieve balanced outcomes. By integrating engineering and environmental considerations, we deliver river systems that are resilient, sustainable, and beneficial to both people and nature.

Projects

BANK STABILIZATION

HOUSTON COUNTRY CLUB | HOUSTON, TEXAS

DCCM provided engineering services for the stabilization of the channel slopes along holes 8 and 10 at Houston Country Club, addressing failed slopes on the south bank of Buffalo Bayou. The project included the design and installation of closely spaced drilled shafts over 2,750 feet, coordination with contractors and geotechnical consultants, and adjustments to resolve deeper failures discovered during construction.

COLLIN’S PARK EROSION

FALL CREEK TOWNSHIP | FISHERS, INDIANA

DCCM was selected to study and provide remedial measures to reduce erosion of the north banks of Cypress Creek adjacent to Collins Park in Houston, Texas. The project included hydrology and hydraulics analysis, naturebased engineering design, regrading slopes, and installing stone toe protection and rip rap to address infrastructure concerns and deliver a long-term solution.

LITTLE CEDAR BAYOU IMPROVEMENTS, PHASES I AND II

CITY OF LA PORTE | LA PORTE, TEXAS

DCCM provided engineering services including widening 2,500 feet of channel to improve stormwater capacity and reduce downstream impacts. The project required land acquisition, installation of backslope drains and riprap, new storm sewer outfalls, and coordination with local and federal agencies to address permitting and incorporate natural stream design techniques.
