Reliable solutions for utility infrastructure

DCCM delivers comprehensive distribution design services for utility infrastructure projects. Our team of skilled designers brings years of experience in utility design, working closely with local entities to complete a wide range of projects. These include relocations for public improvement, system upgrades, feeder extensions, proactive span replacements, total underground residential distribution loop rehabilitation, and pole replacements.

Each designer receives thorough training in software platforms such as SAP, DDS, and MicroStation, as well as client standards, safety protocols, and plan and profile interpretation. Field visits, safety training, and hands-on site documentation are integral to our process. Before design begins, our staff conducts detailed field checks, capturing video and photographs to inform each project. Every design undergoes a rigorous quality assurance and quality control review to meet client expectations and industry standards.

CROCKETT

SUBSTATION DISTRIBUTION DEVELOPMENT PLAN

CENTERPOINT ENERGY | HOUSTON, TEXAS

CenterPoint Energy engaged DCCM to provide engineering and design services for their Energy’s 2022 Distribution Development Plan. The scope included 25,000 feet of new build circuit and upgrades to existing overhead facilities, featuring multiple terminal poles, capacitor banks, and pole top switches in highly congested commercial and residential areas. The plan addressed six railroad crossings requiring strict clearance standards, with some crossings utilizing load-bearing concrete poles and double-circuit configurations.

BRAZOS

RIVER OVERHEAD DISTRIBUTION DESIGN

CENTERPOINT ENERGY | HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS

CenterPoint Energy retained DCCM to design a new 35 kV Brazos River crossing to serve new development and relieve existing circuits. Due to span distance and NESC® requirements, the line shifted opposite the existing 12 kV crossing. The project required abstracts, topography mapping, 110-foot concrete poles, custom framing standards, and permits from TxDOT, the Texas General Land Office, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

OVERLOADED

POLE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

CENTERPOINT ENERGY | HOUSTON, TEXAS

CenterPoint Energy tasked DCCM with providing electrical distribution pole analysis for their systemwide pole replacement effort. Poles suspected of being structurally overloaded due to conductor size, frame type, and equipment were analyzed for clearance and structural integrity, with each pole’s location identified through CenterPoint Energy’s GIS system and assigned unique work orders. Structural and profile analyses evaluated side bearing, vertical bearing, insulators, guys, anchors, cross-arms, stress, and conductor clearances under maximum load conditions.
