WHY DO I NEED COMMISSIONING?

1. A Commissioning study1 covering 60 newly constructed buildings found:

a. 50% Suffered from controls problems

b. 40% Had HVAC equipment problems

c. 33% Of the sensors were not operating properly

d. 15% Had missing equipment

e. 25% Had energy management systems that did not function properly.

2. Projects that are commissioned see energy savings of about 13%2

3. Today’s energy efficient designs require complicated controls that must be thoroughly tested to achieve the desired energy savings.
