An Introduction to Commissioning

DESCRIPTION

This presentation is intended for members of the building design team and serves as both an introduction to the commissioning process and a guide to the design team’s responsibilities within it. It will outline each step of the commissioning process and explain how designers fulfill their roles at each stage. We will also highlight the benefits of commissioning, including improved occupant health and comfort, and energy savings for building owners, users, and occupants. By the end, designers should have a clearer understanding of the commissioning process and its value throughout the life of a project.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Identify when is commissioning required.

• Examine an overview of the commissioning process and how it affects the quality control of the project.

• Understand the design team’s role in the commissioning process.

• Develop general understanding of functional testing.

• Analyze the benefits of commissioning regarding health, welfare, and energy usage of a project
