HARLEM ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Welcome to Harlem High School. I am excited to begin the 2022-2023 athletic seasons! We are honored to have you as our guests today. The NIC 10, in conjunction with the IHSA, has been working to stress the importance of sportsmanship at all athletic events in our conference as well as across the state. We ask that everyone present today demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout this contest as well as throughout the season. I am hopeful for a safe sports season. Educational based athletics provides children with the opportunity to grow in many different areas, but most importantly success beyond what the scoreboard says. I ask the question of “Why do I coach?” to the coaches. I believe that high school athletes should ask themselves a similar question, “Why do I play?” Sports can build character, but it can also tear it down. It is important that athletics make a positive impact on a student, rather than a negative. Thank you for supporting Harlem Athletics. I ask that you continue your support with positive and uplifting cheers. I ask that you exhibit the highest level of integrity and pride for our athletes, and that we represent Harlem with dignity and class.
