The Town of Bryson City is located in Swain County, NC along the Tuckasegee River and adjacent to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Approximately 1,400 year-round residents live in Bryson City, which boasts a vibrant downtown with thriving shops, galleries, lodging, and restaurants.
In 2019 Bryson City was selected as one of twenty-four rural communities to participate in the Downtown Strong program led by the NC Department of Commerce. As a result, the town identified Main Street as a priority to further its downtown revitalization efforts. Subsequently, Bryson City received state grant funding to create a streetscape enhancement master plan along Main Street extending from Veterans Boulevard east to one block beyond Everett Street.
