At the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, we believe the arts are not just entertainment; they’re a vital thread in the fabric of our community. They remind us of our shared humanity, spark joy in the everyday, and provide solace in moments of challenge.

Restrooms are available on each level of the Schuster Center and Victoria Theatre.
Accessibility
DPAA is committed to providing easy access to the arts. If you have accessibility needs or questions, please contact the box office.
Audio description is available upon request for patrons who have vision loss. Describers provide a live, objective, descriptive delivery of the visual elements of a performance in between the dialogue and/or music via a small receiver. Requests must be received two weeks prior to an event and are subject to the availability of the Describer. Please call the box office to make arrangements.
Assistive listening devices are available for all performances. Check out a device from the guest services kiosk or from a house manager in the lobby.
DPAA provides sign language interpretation upon request for performances at the Schuster Center and Victoria Theatre. The 2024–2025 season is my 30th on the DPO podium, following founder Paul Katz, Charles Wendelken-Wilson, and Isaiah Jackson. Next year Keitaro Harada takes over. Until then, I’ll be surrounded by fabulous musicians and fabulous music. Favorite pieces by favorite composers. A world premiere and a U.S. premiere. A ballet I’ve conducted more than a hundred times (The Nutcracker) and one I’ve never conducted before (Cinderella). One of my favorite operas (Amahl and the Night Visitors). And my first-ever concert of country music! But what keeps popping into my head again and again as I think about this last year as your conductor? Song titles by my favorite band, The Beatles: “The Long and Winding Road,” “Come Together,” “We Can Work It Out.” And again and again, these lines: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” Except for me, it’s “… equal to the music you make.” And of course, “P.S. I Love You!”
Kathleen Clawson,
Artistic Director, Opera; Dr. Ron Anderson and Robb Sloan-Anderson Chair
Kathleen Clawson begins her fifth season as Dayton Opera Artistic Director and Dr. Ron Anderson and Robb Sloan-Anderson Chair. Clawson began directing for the Opera in 2009 and has directed 19 productions since, including serving as dramaturg and stage director for the world premiere of Finding Wright
An acclaimed opera director, she directed The Santa Fe Opera’s world premiere of Shoes for the Santo Niño (2011) and was stage director and dramaturg for their world premiere of UnShakeable (2016).
A mezzo-soprano, Clawson’s credits include soloist with the Dayton Philharmonic, productions with The Santa Fe Opera and Dallas Opera, recording de Falla’s “El Amor Brujo” for Maria Benitez’ Teatro Flamenco tour, and singing “Mother Abbess” in Debby Boone’s international tour of The Sound of Music.
Brandon Ragland

Brandon Ragland has more than a decade of professional experience as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. He trained in Birmingham, AL, and has a bachelor’s degree in Dance-Arts Administration from Butler University. After graduation, Ragland danced with Alabama Ballet, followed by Louisville Ballet in 2010, spending 13 years as a leading artist. A respected choreographer, Ragland choreographed works for Louisville Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Ballet Arkansas, AROVA Contemporary Ballet, Next Generation Ballet, Sedona Chamber Ballet, and The Perla Ballet. In 2017, Ragland was honored to perform with the Black Iris Project at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as part of the Kennedy Center’s Dance Across America Program. He has received numerous awards, including “Best Artist” in Louisville Magazine and The Lift a Life Foundation’s “Emerging Leader in the Arts Award” from The Fund for the Arts.
Keitaro Harada
Music and Artistic Director Designate, Philharmonic; Sponsored by Barbara O’Hara
Named Music and Artistic Director Designate for Dayton Philharmonic for the 2024–25 season, Keitaro Harada will begin a five-year tenure as Music and Artistic Director with the 2025–26 season. As Music and Artistic Director of the Savannah Philharmonic since the 2020–21 season, Harada has transformed the orchestra and energized its audiences throughout the community with his imaginative programs and charismatic presence.
Harada is a recipient of the 2023 Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award. In 2024, he was named Permanent Conductor of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Partner for the Aichi Chamber Orchestra. Harada was Associate Conductor for four years at the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops, where he regularly assisted Music Director Louis Langrée and collaborated with James Conlon and Juanjo Mena at the orchestra’s annual May Festival.

About the Artists
Rick Brantley Vocalist
Hailing from the musical mecca of Macon, Georgia, and raised in the deep Southern roots of Blues music, classic Rock n‘ Roll, and the fire and brimstone hymns of his father’s Southern Baptist church, for Rick Brantley, a life making music was never really a choice.
Teenage bar bands gave way to a move to Nashville, TN where he established himself as one of the most in-demand young writers on Music Row, with cuts ranging from Meat Loaf to David Nail. An artist and dynamic performer as well as a songwriter, Brantley secured a wellearned reputation as a consummate “road dog” touring virtually nonstop all over the world for the next decade, opening for everyone from John Hiatt to Kiefer Sutherland to Zac Brown and Brandy Clark, as well as headlining his own shows from Ontario to Hamburg and back.
Now some fifteen years into his career, Brantley has only added to his impressive portfolio, producing acclaimed records with artists like Rob Baird and Justin Halpin, among others and directing music videos in his down time.
Grace Leer
Vocalist
Grace Leer, a Northern California native, started singing at age six, and she knew there was nothing else she would love more than being on stage with a microphone in her hand, making people feel something through her voice. Throughout her younger years, Leer sang anywhere and everywhere she could throughout the Bay Area, as well as playing competitive soccer and excelling in her school work. She earned a soccer scholarship to the University California Berkeley to play Division I soccer. After graduating from Berkeley, Grace headed to Nashville to pursue her dream of becoming a country music
singer/songwriter. Holding down a full time Sales Position and performing and writing songs for four years, Leer auditioned for Season 18 of American Idol. Moving through the competition quickly, Katy Perry’s reacted to her performance of “Natural Woman” during Idol’s Top 40 Showcase, saying “She literally came out her and made everyone else look like they were on a talent show,” which landed Leer in the Top 10! As American Idol came to an end, Leer headed back to Nashville with a massive fan base and proceeded to sign her first Record and Publishing deal with 19 Entertainment/Industrial Media and a management deal with Red Light Management, Empire Publishing, and UTA. She also made her Ryman Auditorium debut in November of 2020. Leer hit the songwriting room hard, getting in rooms with Nashville's best songwriters to find what truly makes her “Grace.” After a year, she found her voice and her sound that incorporates her California roots and her favorite things about 90’s Country. She released her Debut EP with producers Dan Fernandez and Jared Hampton in 2021. In addition to her love of songwriting and performing, Leer has always had a love for acting and filmmaking. She made her acting debut in the role of Riley in the Hallmark Film Time for Her to Come Home For Christmas, which debuted on November 2023 and aired throughout the holiday season. She also wrote, recorded, and released “Star on Top Of The Tree” a song that made several holiday playlists and was featured in the Hallmark film.
A multi-talented singer, songwriter, actress, model, and athlete, Leer has another EP in the works and perhaps more filmmaking. Stay tuned!
Paul Loren Vocalist
Leading a new generation of soulful crooners, Paul Loren is a singer, songwriter, producer and consummate entertainer.
A native New Yorker, Loren was raised on the rich legacy of soul, classic pop, and the Great American Songbook and in those musical idioms he feels most at home. Taking elements from early R&B, jazz and Brill Building pop, he crafts his music with an ear towards timelessness.
“I started singing at 3 years old along with the little 45rpm records my mom would play and started playing piano at 4 years old. The voices I remember most and identify with are Ray Charles, Frankie Valli, Sam Cooke, Sinatra, Aretha, Otis, and Tony Bennett. Growing up in New York, Billy Joel was also a big influence.”
Loren recently completed his first headline tour in 2019, also having performed in the past as a support artist for The Temptations, as part of Stamford’s Summer Concert Series “Wednesday Night Live;” Brendan James; American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks; David Bromberg; and soldout Joe’s Pub at the Public in NYC multiple times. Loren was also selected by Jennifer Lopez to perform at her Birthday Gala in Las Vegas, showcased at The SoHo House NYC; was a featured artist at the AAA Radio Convention in Boulder, Colorado; and shared the stage with Paul Shaffer, Queen Latifah, and Christie Brinkley at Target’s launch event for New York Fashion Week.
Loren's appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon showcased his talents for millions of viewer. In addition, Loren landed his first television sync
recently on NBC’s “Mysteries of Laura,” performed on the Nationally Syndicated Radio Show America Weekend with Ed Kalegi; has partnered with The Ryan Seacrest Foundation; showcased at the headquarters of the world-renowned Leo Burnett Ad in Chicago; and had the unique honor of performing at the legendary STAX Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, Loren had the rare opportunity to record in the world-renowned Sun Studio in the same room as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and so many other pioneers of Rock 'n Roll. Paul was also a finalist in the “Unsigned Only” singersongwriter competition for 2018.
His debut single “All By Myself” was supported by radio stations Lighting100 in Nashville, SiriusXM’s The Pulse, WCOO Charleston, and KPND Spokane, among others. His follow up single, titled “I Know A Place” premiered on Huffington Post and received rave reviews along with over 200,000 views in its first week.
Loren’s latest single, “We’ll Be Together Again,” written and recorded at home during the early spring of 2020, continues to be a beacon of hope for those affected by the uncertainty of a tumultuous year. All of the proceeds from the song have been sent to a COVID-19 relief charity. During the pandemic’s first wave, Loren’s weekly online music show—“The Leisure Lounge”—was livestreamed from his home in NYC and ran for 15 consecutive weeks, broadcasting to thousands of viewers around the world.
