Demolition Plans Advance for Two School Buildings By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
Two education facilities in Madison are now one step closer to demolition as the town prepares to present its plans for tearing down Kathleen H. Ryerson Elementary School and the Town Campus Learning Center at the Planning and Zoning Commission’s Aug. 6 meeting.
The demolition of both buildings would remove two outdated structures that have long been part of Madison Public Schools’ School Renewal Plan. That plan also included construction of the new Neck River Elementary School and structural improvements to Dr. Robert H. Brown Elementary School. According to Madison Public Schools Con-
struction Manager Ben Whittaker, both buildings are ready for demolition, although they will come down at different times between this fall and next summer. Ryerson — which the school district determined was not cost-effective to renovate — is ready for demolition-related work to begin. See Demolition Plans Advance page 8
