Committee Charts Course for Townwide Anniversary By Aaron Rubin Staff Writer
The Madison 200/America 250 Committee has already established several summertime events as part of the bicentennial of Madison’s founding in 1826 and the semiquincentennial of the United States’ Declaration of Independence. But work is far from over, as
the committee is reaching out for individuals and groups to support other events and incidentals during the yearlong celebration. With support from the Madison Foundation, the committee has already planned for six events during the summer, including a Flag Day display on June 13 at the Madison Historical Society. This event will feature a reenactment of the signing of the documents
officiating Madison’s independence from Guilford and incorporation as a municipality, according to committee Chair Rosalyn Cama. There will also be a fireworks show on July 2, and the Fourth of July parade and Ringing of Hang Bells on July 4. The latter See Committee page 9
