Welcome to the 33 rd Annual

East Haven Fall Festival!

Dear East Haven Community,

Welcome to the 2024 East Haven Fall Festival! The Fall Festival is a perfect reminder of how fortunate we are to live in such a closeknit and supportive town. Enjoy the festivities and the company of your neighbors. The East Haven Fall Festival provides an opportunity to spend time with family and friends while enjoying our beautiful town green.

The transformation of East Haven’s town green is almost complete. I’m excited about this final phase. After the Fall Festival, we will commence the construction of a new gazebo, which will serve as a focal point for community gatherings, concerts, and other events.

Our farmers market continues to grow, showcasing our region’s exceptional produce and products. I am proud to say there are more vendors this year, and our residents are showing a healthy appetite for the products they sell. This is a “win-win” for all involved.

East Haven continues to experience a surge in new business openings, which has driven economic growth and created numerous job opportunities for our residents. This success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our administration and the innovative spirit of our community.

From live music to engaging performances and amazing food, our East Haven Fall Festival entertainment promises something for everyone. I can’t wait for you to experience it all!

Your participation and meaningful feedback at events like the East Haven Fall Festival are essential to our growth. Your voices and perspectives truly shape the future of our town, and I deeply appreciate your contributions. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the 2024 East Haven Fall Festival!

Warm regards,

Welcome to the 33 rd Annual East Haven Fall Festival!

The East Haven Fall Festival celebrates its 33rd year, with this year’s festival scheduled for Sept. 6, 7, and 8 on the East Haven Town Green.

Through the efforts of our volunteers, the generosity of our countless sponsors, and the commitment from the mayor’s office of the town of East Haven, we will again feature free entertainment throughout the entire weekend. Last year, the festival showcased Get Down On It (Kool & the Gang Tribute Show) on Saturday night. This year, we welcome The Foreigner-Journey Experience (The Ultimate Foreigner & Journey Tribute) as our featured act on Saturday evening.

As in past years, the festival will again feature rides and games, activities by local civic groups, arts and crafts, the Chamber Business Showcase, the Classic Car Show, local offerings, and the Teen Corner.

The East Haven Fall Festival 5K Road Race Committee will again run the East Haven Community Classic 5K Road Race and an Almost a Mile Fun Run on Sunday morning. The proceeds will be donated to the Police Athletic League, a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation run by local police officers and community stakeholders. The league organizes sports programs year-round for local youth. The Classic Car Show will also return on Sunday morning, coordinated by the East Haven Fall Festival Car Show Committee.

The 33rd East Haven Festival Entertainment Lineup

Friday’s entertainment will feature Skyway Band, who will perform for the audience’s listening pleasure. The headliner, The Pop Rocks (Totally Awesome ’80s), will perform after Skyway Band.

Saturday’s headline entertainment will feature The Foreigner-Journey Experience (The Ultimate Foreigner & Journey Tribute). Saturday will also feature local bands, including The Heavy Hitters and Avenue Groove.

Sunday’s entertainment will feature One Way Ticket and end the day with the Beau Bolero (Ultimate Tribute to Steely Dan).

The festival is a joint effort of the East Haven Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor’s Office. I would like to thank them in advance for all of their help and assistance in organizing this year’s festival. I would also like to thank, in advance, all the members of the executive board and the planning committee who worked tirelessly to help put on a great festival. In addition, our collective thanks go out to the members of East Haven’s Fire Department, Police Department, and Public Works Department, who are on the Green throughout the weekend, keeping it safe and ensuring an orderly festival weekend.

I would also like to extend special thanks to Mayor Joseph Carfora for his continued unwavering support and assistance in making this event successful this year.

I urge each and every one of you to join us for this year’s festival, which has become known as one of the best free entertainment venues in Connecticut.

Sincerely,

Entertainment

FRIDAY’S HEADLINER:

THE POP ROCKS (CT’S ULTIMATE ’80 s EXPERIENCE)

Connecticut’s ultimate ’80s experience playing only the best pop and rock from the decade!

SUNDAY’S HEADLINER:

BEAU BOLERO

(TRIBUTE TO STEELY DAN)

The American premier Steely Dan tribute band.

Beau Bolero is a Connecticut-based musical group dedicated to reproducing the music of Steely Dan. Formed in late 1980 by four close friends, they performed at major clubs and colleges throughout the Northeast. Their success grew rapidly since Steely Dan stopped touring in 1974 and didn’t resume playing live concerts again until 1993. There was no shortage of people willing to come out to hear their live renditions of Steely Dan’s material, as curiosity is a potent weapon. Despite many critics’ initial warranted skepticism, they attracted glowing reviews on America’s East Coast as they captured Steely Dan’s sound in a tight, classy, and sophisticated way. They disbanded in June of 1984, with all members continuing to keep active in the music industry. Although they considered reuniting in 2007, it didn’t happen until 2010. On May 21, 2010, Beau Bolero performed their first, longawaited reunion show after a 26-year hiatus. Since 2010, they have continued to do a few special performances a year around the Connecticut area.

SATURDAY’S HEADLINER:

THE FOREIGNERJOURNEY EXPERIENCE

(TRIBUTE TO FOREIGNER & JOURNEY)

The Foreigner Journey Experience is a musical extravaganza like no other. Bringing together the timeless hits of two iconic rock bands, Foreigner and Journey, the show is a mesmerizing tribute to the classic tunes that have captured the hearts of millions.

As the lights dim and the first notes of “Cold as Ice” ring out, the audience will be transported back to the glory days of stadium rock. The powerful vocals and electrifying guitar solos will have the crowd on their feet, singing along to every word. From “Don’t Stop Believin’” to “I Want to Know What Love Is,” every song is performed with the same passion and energy that made the original recordings so unforgettable.

The band’s expert musicianship and dynamic stage presence will have the audience feeling as if they were experiencing a live performance by the legendary bands themselves.

The Foreigner Journey Experience is a captivating journey through the greatest hits of two rock legends, leaving the audience exhilarated and hungry for more. As the final chords of “Juke Box Hero” echo through the venue, there is no doubt that the show left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of experiencing it.

SKYWAY BAND

Skyway Band has been entertaining audiences throughout New England for years, bringing their brand of recognizable classic dance, pop, and R&B hits to the region! With very talented and strong male and female vocals, Darrell & Carla upfront, casinos, festivals, concerts, private affairs, and nightclubs took advantage of the group’s talent and showmanship with critical acclaim. They are well-received by audiences of all ages. Without a doubt, the “Skyway Band” will be the feature group of today!

The Heavy Hitters

THE HEAVY HITTERS

The Heavy Hitters have been bringing fun to local venues/ theaters, fairs, private parties, corporate functions, holiday celebrations, and wedding receptions throughout the tri-state area for almost a decade. Led by vocalist & recording artist, Heather Joseph. Performing with artists such as Corey Glover and Doug Wimbish (Living Colour) and touring members of Billy Joel, Madonna, and The White Stripes, among others, speaks to the caliber of talent you can expect.

AVENUE GROOVE

A six-piece R&B/funk/dance band with attitude! Catch a show; you’ll be glad you did!

orative effort involving the Fall Festival Committee, our community’s wholly non-profit Police Athletic League, and the town. As the race has expanded its offerings, it has come to attract not only fitness enthusiasts looking to beat their personal bests, but also casual runners, high school students, and young children. This year, in collaboration with our senior center, the race will also include a first time-ever “fitness walk” for senior-center participants. We expect, as with past years, that the road race will mark a morning of fun and fitness for all who join along.

The 5K road race will be preceded by both the “Senior Fitness Walk” and “Almost a Mile Fun Run,” both slated to take place at 7:30 a.m. and which will end shortly before the 5K road race kicks off at 8:00 a.m.

Individuals interested in participating in the 5K road race or the “Fun Run” can learn more about the races, register, and remit race entry fees via the race website at www.ehroadrace.com. Mail-in registration forms can be requested by e-mailing ehcommunityclassic@gmail.com.

Carfora continued, “Judy Sittnick, the race’s coordinator for over 20 years, is joined this year by longtime race volunteers Joe Jarmie and Julie Dougherty, who will be working with members from our police department along with State Representative Joe Zullo to organize this year’s race. As with prior years, all the profits from the race will go directly to benefit the town’s Police Athletic League, which provides quality, wholesome athletic programming and activities for town youths.”

Sittnick noted, “We are particularly grateful to our title sponsors, including our lead sponsor The Law Offices of Zullo, Zullo, and Jacks, LLC, along with local realtor Tom Vanacore, the East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, and consulting company Lenox & Hughes, LLC, which have teamed up with Attorney Zullo as major sponsors. Their support will continue to allow us to expand event offerings and turn over additional monies to the Police Athletic League.

The 5K road race route is fast and flat, begins at the Town Green, leads runners through the center of historic downtown East Haven, and finishes back at the starting line next to the Town Green. The race is open to people of all ages and wheelchair athletes are encouraged and welcome to participate. The event has ample water stations and includes a hydration station at the conclusion so that runners can recover after the race. Trophies are awarded across ten age categories, to both male and female participants, and to the male and female first place finishers.

East Haven Fall Festival, Inc. President Noreen Clough concluded, “I am thankful for the logistic support provided by the mayor’s office, town, and police department, which helps us put this race on each year. I am equally excited to have a committed group of local volunteers and community stakeholders both organizing the race and competing in it. I encourage anyone interested in running to sign up for the race and show their support for the East Haven Police Athletic League.”
