Satisfaction I couldn’t have planned this issue for a better time if I tried. At first, issue #5 entitled “Satisfaction” was due to release in the beginning of the year. However, the universe stepped in and said “SORRY, NOPE.” I had to get over a lot of setbacks and trials to put this issue out. As with anything that’s new, independent and entrepreneurial, it takes a lot of getting over yourself to move forward.

But I see now why January 1st wasn’t the time for this issue to release. It’s the week of Valentine’s Day, and this issue, all about what brings us satisfaction in our lives as lovers, dreamers and creators is out! Wow. This is an amazing feeling, and this issue is very different from previous issues. It’s visually stimulating, featuring a lot of steamy editorials. We have a steamy interview with love-inspired graphic artist, Carlos Cabada, also known as Eromatica on Instagram. He’s creating art that empowers sexuality and challenges the unhealthy stigmas around sex.

As with every issue before this and to come after this, it is my hope to keep inspiring day dreamers worldwide to run wild and follow their dreams.

Thinking Out Loud The Power Of Sex Satisfaction. What do we think of when we hear that word? A good book, a spoonful of ice cream against sensitive teeth, a glass of chilled wine, or fuzzy socks on a chilly, winter night? These are our innocent satisfactions, the ones we can dive into in the middle of the day — when the sun is still up to shine a light on us all. When the moon comes out to play, that is when our true satisfactions rise to the surface. When we shed our layers and delve into the deepest parts of our carnal pleasures.

The moonlight creeps into my bedroom window, as I lift my wine glass to my lips and sip through giggles. You ask me what gives me satisfaction, my thoughts cause me to wipe the wine off my bottom lip with my tongue.

PASSION. FINGERTIPS. TONGUES. ARCHED BACKS. MUFFLED MOANS. Sexual acts are enough to take control of our minds, and make our bodies behave as if they are controlled by some puppeteer spirit who cracks open the darkest, filthiest parts of our minds when our libido comes to life. Sex comes to us instinctively, as if our hands are just as uncontrollable as our kisses. It has the power to shed morals between sheets.

When we think of sex, we do not often associate power with it. I am not sure that as human beings we understand just how much power sex gives us. Especially as women, our flowers dripping with nectar tucked safely between our thighs. There is an entire species sinking to their knees at the thought of it, willing to beg at our feet for the slightest taste of it. With that

alone, we hold the Earth in our grasps; manipulating situations as we please because they would do anything, anything just to pull apart our legs and bury themselves deeply within. They would even risk their entire livelihoods for it ­— their families, their jobs and their reputations just for a little taste of it.

Anything with that much power should be feared. So what happens when we take its power into our own hands? What happens when we exhaust our strength into it? Does it then become more desirable? Or should they run in fear at our potential?

Sex for me is much more than submitting to my partner, willing to do whatever they crave to bring them to climax.

What happens when we reverse the roles? When their hand around my throat becomes my hand around theirs?

Delivering spanks from delicate hands; when the bondage is performed by the normally bonded. What then happens, when I place my gentle toes onto your forehead, forcing you away from me?

Forcing my fingers inside of me, watching you drool through your teeth, a subtle craze in your eyes, because the power lies entirely between my legs. I wonder, if this makes me power-crazed, watching you squirm makes my insides tingle.

Watching your mix of pain and pleasure gives me the deepest satisfaction that even I am too fearful of to admit.

Wanderlust From Seattle to NYC and back, all for Love Seventy days before I moved across the country, I met you. You happened. Our summer was sticky and hot. Seattle’s never seen warmer temperatures. We climb mountains and party on boats.

We sleep with the fan on and our clothes off, my back stuck to your belly.

I catch you staring at me while I laugh and ask “what!?”

“Nothing.” You say. “It’s just, I love the sound of your laugh.”

We sing the same songs the entire summer and ignore the sand falling to the bottom of the hourglass. My suitcases sit in the corner of your living room, haunting us. We walk around them but they take up space anyway. Summer is ending and I am leaving.

Tomorrow.

We spend our last night together at a mexican restaurant. We’re quiet. Nothing to say but everything to be wondered. We are still so new, how could I base my entire move off of you?

Tears. That’s all I remember about saying goodbye. My tears and your strong face. I was terrified.

Brooklyn is like a foreign country. I don’t feel I speak the language.

I drink to feel normal, to be social, to forget. I cry to you at night. I tell you I’m scared. I feel half of me is here and half of me is there.

We learn the subway. We buy magnets and T-shirts. We sit in small venues listening to men play guitar, they look lonely like me. We bowl in Times Square, ride bikes around Central Park, eat a Nathan’s hot dog. It still wasn’t enough.

I get on an airplane.

Come home with you.

Home is you.

You are home.

recipes for satisfaction “Recipes for…” is a new segment that will be included in every issue of Day Dreamers from now on. To kickoff the first segment, I wanted to create and share recipes with you all on how to satisfy yourself, your lover, and your situationship (because we’ve all been there). Mix 1 lifetime supply of condoms with 2 dashes of detachment so you never get caught up in the pleasure with unwanted “problems.”

Add in 3 cups of checking yourself to keep yourself in the right frame of mind. When the fun is done, top the dish with 4 spoonfuls of Uber credit. Enjoy within the hour to avoid any regrets of wasting your time.

how to satisfy a lover • 1 lifetime of understanding • 3 cups of intimacy • 2 dashes of spontaneity • 1 spoonful of unconditional love • 3 dashes of support DIRECTIONS:

Stir 3 cups of intimacy slowly, then add 2 dashes of spontaneity for chemistry. Once the two are blended, add in 3 dashes of support. Now, you have something worth waiting for.

Bake it at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Halfway through, top it with 1 spoonful of unconditional love and 1 lifetime of understanding. Put it back in the oven to finish. When

Love Inspired Graphic Artist One of the most creative and visually appealing illustrators I’ve seen in a while, Carlos Cabada is a 28-year-old loveinspired graphic artist from Veracruz, Mexico — just by the Gulf of Mexico. And he’s redefining what it means to have sexual confidence in yourself and your intimate relationships.

He’s been a creator and entrepreneur since 11. In sixth grade, he was introduced to the lifestyle by a friend who showed him the world of web design. Carlos’ mind was blown once he realized how he could manipulate websites with codes — so he started creating his own.

Then he moved on to creating his own games and selling them on CDs to local stores. He once created an online game that got up to 10,000 registered users, entitled “ilDom” on YouTube.

All of this digital creation led to his passion for illustration. He realized he needed characters for his games, and so he began drawing and the rest is history.

I chatted with Carlos about his method behind creating his lusty, romantic illustrations; what brings him satisfaction; and how is art is erasing the stigma attached to sexual empowerment, for all.

WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO MAKE ART SOLELY ABOUT LOVE AND INTIMACY? Love is something we all experience any time of our lives, and by love I don’t only mean as solely to be applied to a couple, but to ourselves. That, plus when I started the project I was going into a love-anxiety era where I felt lonely and drawing couples and expressing my necessity of love helped me a lot.

DOES YOUR ART COME FROM EXPERIENCE, THIRD PERSON STORIES, YOUR IMAGINATION ­— OR A MIXTURE OF ALL THREE? My art comes from a mixture of everything, this is all I think about day to day. My brain is now kinda trained to look for ideas to draw, and I don’t mean that as being forced to do it, but it happens automatically. So it’s mostly my own experiences or third person experiences plus my touch of imagination.

HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTO MAKING THIS TYPE OF ART? I got into creating this art as a therapy to overcome my love-anxiety. I was facing a time where I didn’t feel love for someone and wasn’t feeling loved by someone. I’ve always been a romantic person and a person who likes to share experiences with people.

So my loneliness lead me to draw my own love experiences to feel something. I started posting illustrations and they were getting a lot of engagement, so I didn’t doubt a single second and started making it a thing. And voila, Eromatica came to life. If it wasn’t for the engagement of my followers, I wouldn’t the satisfaction issue • page — 56

be here drawing for almost two years now.

WHAT TOOLS DO YOU USE TO CREATE YOUR ART? My laptop’s trackpad, not even a mouse.

Haha. The way I learned to draw is making straight lines and then re-shaping them to the curves I needed. I suck at perspectives and body proportions, so I sometimes take photos myself and use them as reference to keep the bodies anatomically correct.

And just a few months ago, I got myself an iPad PRO with the Apple pencil, and it has brought me to completely new levels of drawing.

HOW DOES YOUR ART BRING YOU SATISFACTION? Since I started, the engagement and participation of my followers has been crucial for me to keep going. And I don’t mean like “Oh, these likes are feeding my ego.” I’m talking about the interaction that the users take to it. Since day one, it’s been amazing to see how my followers tag their partners and can relate with the illustrations. And the skin variation has helped a lot on this, because it makes the viewer feel more related to it as it matches more to themselves and their partners.

THE ONE THING THAT STOOD OUT TO ME ABOUT YOUR ART IS HOW YOU CREATE DIFFERENT SHADES OF YOUR CHARACTERS. WHAT’S THE PURPOSE BEHIND THIS? Art is art only when the viewer feels something for it. And the way you feel something for it is somehow it resembles

yourself or your ideas. So making the illustration more representative to every type of person gets a higher chance for someone to really feel what is behind the illustration.

Plus besides all that, the deepest reason is inclusivity. Making this type of art available to the world shapes how the world thinks about inclusivity. The media has a strong power of affecting the norm. Imagine a world where art, movies, music, etc. were made only inspired by people of one skintone, or one type of sexuality. It vastly affects what we define as normal. So let’s have control of this and shape it to make a better world out there. We are not just one shade, but a spectrum of shades.

WHAT SIGNIFICANCE DOES THE PORTRAYAL OF THE DEVIL HAVE WITH LOVE, LUST AND ROMANCE IN YOUR ART? Nice question! A lot of people relate it with “bad” or “evil,” but that’s not the case, and I’m glad you brought it.

Since I was a kid, I’ve been frustrated with how society treats gender roles. The man works, the woman takes care of the kids.

The man is strong; the woman is fragile and delicate. The man must provide protection to the woman; the woman must give affection and cares for the man. The man can maturbate, the woman cannot. The man cannot cry, the woman can. The man is dominant; the woman is submissive.

So, why I draw the devilgirl? It’s a way to show that women can be dominant too, and that men can be submissive too. That women can be tough and men can be soft.

WHY THE NAME “EROMATICA?” The name Eromatica came from a mix of words and a mix of my background.

Ero-tica + Auto-matic = Ero + matica = Eromatica Which means: Automatic eroticism. You instantly feel erotic at the time you see the art.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST SATISFYING ASPECT OF ROMANCE (OTHER THAN THE PLEASURE OF THE ACT, OF COURSE)?

Sharing experiences. Knowing what feeds the inner-self of another person. Pursuing each other’s goals. Understanding that both sides of the couple is a completely independent human being, even when you find your soulmate. Being empathetic is the most important thing for a healthy relationship to make it satisfying. Even sometimes the pleasure of sex is not what satisfies a couple.

DO YOU EVER GET THE URGE TO EXPLORE THE DARKER SIDES OF SEXUALITY, LIKE KINKS AND BDSM, FOR EXAMPLE? Yes! I’ve experimented with this type of art before, and I still do, but I don’t do it that often. I’m more attracted to doing romantic love. I believe it’s a stronger feeling to pass along through illustrations.

HOW HAS SATISFACTION FOR YOUR CRAFT GUIDED YOU IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LIFE THUS FAR? It has helped me a lot, it for sure shaped what Carlos is, for good in multiple ways.

I’ve been more free to talk about sex with people I didn’t feel that comfortable with like my family. It has also helped me to be who am I and express it more in society. day dreamers • page — 59

For example, before Eromatica, I was kinda scared of talking about how I feel genderless, but now I’m completely proud to say that I am.

Masturbation has also been a topic I tended to avoid; however, now I’m completely free to talk about it!

I believe Eromatica has helped me to express more of who I feel I am.

And it has also helped me to believe more in myself about what I can achieve professionally; the limits have vanished away.

DO YOU FIND YOUR ART IS HELPING WITH THE STIGMA OF OPENLY BEING SEXUAL AND INTIMATE? Yes! A lot of my followers have reached out to me saying how my art has helped them to be more confident about their sexual lives, about their bodies and in their relationships. This has been really satisfying for me because I can tell that I’m fulfilling my goal!

I love to see how my followers share my illustrations and the message behind their repost is always so positive. I can tell for sure my art is nourishing confidence in my followers. I literally receive dozens of daily messages about this.

IS YOUR ART HELPING PEOPLE TO BECOME MORE NORMALIZED WITH THE IDEAL OF EVERYONE HAVING SEX AND ACTUALLY ENJOYING IT? Yes! And not only with their partners but the satisfaction issue • page — 64

with themselves (mastubation). And because the message of my illustrations is always romantic and positive, it’s being addressed in a positive way, that’s why I care a lot on how the illustrations are perceived. There’s always a balance. If there was no balance and my illustrations depicted situations where the man or the woman were being degraded it would for sure be another story — and a bad one.

IN YOUR EXPERIENCE, WHAT’S THE MOST UNUSUAL GRATIFICATION OF SEX (BESIDES ORGASMING AND IT FEELING GOOD)?

I would say empowerment and control.

But you better not saturate it or it could be damaging.

DO YOU THINK SEX IS THE BEST WAY TO CONNECT WITH A LOVER? WHY OR WHY NOT? I don’t believe there is an exact way to connect with a lover. We are all different in every way that we have our very own ways to connect. For some it’s love, for others it’s sex. For some it’s profession, and for others it’s spirituality. The best way to connect with a lover is finding out what makes you connect! And not only you, but your partner as well.

YOU SHARED VIA INSTAGRAM THAT YOU’VE BEEN CREATING FOR EROMATICA FOR ONE AND A HALF YEARS NOW. WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOUR BRAND AND ART IN 2019?

I don’t know how much to tell, because I’ve been keeping it a secret. But I can tell you that I’m opening a branch for a clothing brand and an interactive blog to talk

about love, sex, intimacy, relationships, masturbation, period-positivity, body-positivity, empowerment in women, etc. And it’s going to have a virtual reality/augmented reality experience, which I cannot talk that much about at the moment.

Plus a lot of collaborations with a lot of companies and artists.

I’m also starting a new series of illustrations and animations for my art, to not only talk about love and sex, but about all the topics I mentioned above.

When Carlos isn’t creating software for his personal projects or drawing sexually satisfying illustrations for his online fanbase, you can find him freeing his mind by skateboarding and partying. Because “we all need a balance in life to stay sane,” he said.
