The 1960s was a forward-looking decade when exciting innovations occured in the field of graphic design. This exhibition of letterhead design items from that period will take place at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery of Dawson College from August 22 to September 5, 2013. The project emerged from the discovery of a non-descript box among of my late father’s possessions. He was an artist and a university professor, and through time had collected cover letters from such luminaries as Leslie Beal, Paul Rand and Ladislav Sutnar, all on company stationery with letterheads. This material was collected in order to serve as inspiration for students and colleagues some 50 years ago. Now, in 2013, curious eyes will study the material in a different educational institution, to be experienced with a fresh perspective. With this exhiition project comes an opportunity to see what the forward-looking spirit of the 1960s looks like from a future vantage point that owes much to that exciting decade
