Core Competencies SMI was founded in 1993 as a Research and Development (R&D) company with expertise in the design and development of aerospace control and health monitoring systems. Our solutions are based on aviation-qualified, translational technologies that intelligently combine statistical, physical and heuristic information. In addition to monitoring and managing aviation assets, SMI is expanding from this core competency to the Smart Energy and Healthcare markets. It incorporates Six-sigma analysis and control charting techniques to identify anomalies in your asset’s data, evaluate the degradation of asset performance, and quickly notify you about asset failures in advance allowing you to plan maintenance actions make supply chain decisions. ÌÌ iPredict® is a back-end software that provides an analytic environment for observations, predictions, tips, and recommendations. The software contains a suite of tools to facilitate algorithm validation, predictive modeling, and data mining. Profile SMI was started in 1993 by Dr. Link Jaw, SMI’s President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as a research and consulting company in aircraft engine controls. Since the mid-2000s, SMI has successfully transitioned from a research company in aerospace controls to a product/service company in health monitoring of mission-critical assets. This transition began with a revenue-sharing licensing arrangement with Boeing Commercial Airplanes utilizing our iTrend® software as the trend monitoring tool for aircraft systems in their Airplane Health Management (AHM) application. In addition, SMI enhanced the U.S. Air Force’s engine health management software by using some of the same technologies found in our commercial software product, iTrend®. The company’s mission is to deliver predictive health monitoring software and services to improve efficiency, enhance reliability, and reduce cost.
