Dear Davis Academy Families and Friends:

With our focus on the future and the continued growth and success of our school, this Impact Report is an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments of the past school year and to thank all the individuals who had such a positive and meaningful impact on our community through their generosity. Though faced with challenges due to the pandemic, 2021-2022 was an exceptional school year for our students.

The strength of The Davis Academy kehillah lies in the dedication of our families, faculty and staff, Board of Trustees, grandparents, alumni and so many caring community members, who share their time, skills, expertise, and personal resources with our school. The following pages highlight the many supporters who generously enable us to make The Davis Academy an extraordinary place for our community’s children through these important efforts:

• The Davis Fund: Our most important fundraiser, The Davis Fund, raised a record breaking $685,000 in donations this past school year from our Board of Trustees, parents, grandparents, alumni parents, faculty and staff and community donors. A special thank you is extended to a generous anonymous donor who donated $1,000 for every donor pledging $5,000 or more to become inaugural members of the Davis Fund’s new Lions Society. The 39 families giving at this level helped secure an incremental $39,000 in matching dollars, for which we are very grateful.

• Community Golf Tournaments: With the pandemic impacting our special events, we had postponed our 2020 golf tournament and are grateful that we were able to then hold two highly successful golf tournaments during the 20212022 school year, honoring two very special Past Presidents, Sam Tuck on August 30, 2021, and Evan Toporek on May 9, 2022. We appreciate the many Sponsors who enabled Davis to raise over $349,000 across both tournaments.

• Georgia Private School Tax Credit: Our school allocated more than $730,000 in tuition scholarships last year because of the many individuals who redirected their state tax dollars through the Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program (ALEF Fund) for this important need at The Davis Academy.

We have always been proud of our Davis community but in a school year that unexpectedly again began and ended with a pandemic, we are especially appreciative of every donor and the deeply dedicated volunteers who help ensure we have the resources needed to be the very best school we can be.

Tuition alone only covers 80% of the annual cost to provide the highest quality academic and Jewish enrichment experiences for every child. A gift to the Davis Fund is the most important financial contribution we ask of every parent, alumni parent, grandparent, faculty, staff, alumni and community friend. Introducing the Lions Society

The Davis Academy was the grateful recipient of the outpouring of LOVE, generosity, and commitment from our community during the 2020-2021 school year, the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. In response to the many generous Davis Fund gifts made at the $5,000+ level, we introduced a new recognition society called The Lions Society, honoring all donors who commit to a Davis Fund gift of $5,000 or more.

A Special Matching Gift

Knowing that The Davis Academy would continue to experience increased incremental expenses related to COVID 19, an anonymous donor graciously contributed $1,000 for every Davis Fund gift maintained at the $5,000+ level, as well as every gift that increased up to or exceeding $5,000. Establishing a Tribute Banking Account is a simple convenient way to make honorariums and memorials. With an initial contribution of $300 to establish the account, your contribution can be used for an unlimited period of time, and your Tribute Banking Account will function just like a checking account. Each time you make a tribute, a personalized card will be promptly mailed acknowledging your gift in honor or memory of the person you designate. The amount of your gift will be deducted from your account. Georgia Tax Credit

The Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program makes an extraordinary impact to The Davis Academy student body— providing financial aid for qualified students with financial need. State residents, S- and C-corporations, LLCs, partnerships and trusts can redirect a portion of their Georgia tax liability to a Student Scholarship Organization (The Davis Academy participates in the ALEF Fund) in support of financial aid at one or more independent schools of the taxpayer’s choice.

In 2022, Davis parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, alumni parents, and community friends participated in the program, allocating more than $730,000 to enable over 100 students to attend The Davis Academy. Thank you for giving the gift of a Jewish education.

Endowment Funds

An endowment is a pool of funds that continues in perpetuity providing the ongoing support for priority program needs and for the future benefit and growth of the school. Endowment funds are active funds to which contributions and tributes can be made at any time.

Gifts to an endowment make a lasting tribute in honor or memory of individuals or loved ones. The principal of an endowment fund is invested for future earnings, providing a stream of income to support current needs.
