Dear Davis Academy Families and Friends: With our focus on the future and the continued growth and success of our school, in this Annual Report we reflect on our accomplishments of the past school year and we thank all the individuals who had such a positive and meaningful impact on our community through their generosity. While most of the 2019-2020 school year was spent together on our stateof-the-art campuses, learning, laughing, singing, praying, collaborating, and growing, by the end of March, we had “taken Davis home” in response to the COVID-19 public health crisis. With all our detailed annual planning, we truly couldn’t have anticipated the impact of a global pandemic, requiring us to leave our classrooms, fields, gymnasiums, science and innovation labs in just 48 hours, and ensure continuous learning virtually. And yet, that is just what we did. While certainly an unanticipated and unique ending to the year, the spirit of this community was unprecedented. The strength of The Davis Academy kehillah lies in the dedication of our families, faculty and staff, Board of Trustees, grandparents, alumni and so many caring community members, who share their time, skills, expertise and personal resources with our school. The following pages highlight the many supporters who generously enable us to make The Davis Academy an extraordinary place for our community’s children through these important efforts:

• Our most important fundraiser, the highly successful Davis Fund, raised over $460,000, with donations from our parents, faculty and staff, Board of Trustees, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, and community donors. • Plans for our 22nd Annual Community Golf Tournament honoring Sam Tuck were complete when COVID-19 struck, forcing us to postpone the event. As our school is encouraging social distancing, the decision has been made to move the Golf Tournament to Monday, May 10, 2021. Our generous sponsors remain committed to be at The Golf Club of Georgia in the spring.

• Our school allocated over $730,000 in scholarship money to students through ALEF Fund, the Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program which allows individuals to redirect their tax dollars for scholarships to independent schools like The Davis Academy. I am appreciative of each and every donor to The Davis Academy and to the deeply dedicated volunteers who help ensure we have the resources to be the very best school we can be, including our 2019-2020 Board of Trustees. I am especially grateful for the guidance and leadership of Evan Toporek, our outgoing Board of Trustees President, and am at the same time thankful for the passion and dedication of our new President, Lisa Freedman, who will lead us forward in the year ahead.

Davis Fund Honor Roll In 2019-2020, our community once again embraced the school’s philanthropic tradition by generously supporting the Davis Fund annual giving campaign. Parents, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, faculty and staff and community donors gave more than $460,000 to our annual giving program to ensure that our students have the best experience possible; both in the classroom and beyond. These gifts enable us to invest in top tier faculty, support our thriving arts and athletics programs, provide our students with cutting-edge technology and ultimately, provide our students with the resources they need to achieve their full potential. As a graduate, The Davis Academy played a special role in my life. Davis introduced me to inspiring teachers that provided valuable lessons and enabled me to reach my full potential. The Galanti Family “The more you give away, the happier you become.” As parents, happiness is seeing your kids happy. When we relocated back to Atlanta after 6 years out of state, we knew The Davis Academy was where our three children would thrive and be happy. As soon as we walked through the doors, we were impressed with the vibrant art on walls, the playful chatter in the halls, and the love of learning as we watched classroom instruction. Heading into year three as part of the Davis family this continues to ring true. Our kids are happy, we are happy and to us that is everything. Whether it is a cool science project, a challenging book read, an aha moment in math or a friendly game of gaga, Davis knows how to nurture and guide their students on multiple levels. There is an incredible fine arts program for all ages to feature their talents or realize new ones. In addition, Davis provides an experience to learn and expand Jewish culture and heritage kids are excited about-it only takes one Kabbalat Shabbat at Davis to feel the ruach. Every moment at Davis is a welcoming one, and we have experienced nothing short of incredible teachers, staff, and administration. It’s easy to support The Davis Academy because they create such a welcoming, nurturing, and family oriented culture for us to feel continued joy and happiness.

Avi has been attending The Davis Academy since her Kindergarten year, and the school has become much more to our family than just a place of education. It’s a second home, a safe and comfortable environment, and a fun and welcoming community. Davis provides an excellent academic and social foundation for Avi, as well as a greater appreciation of her Jewish heritage. Her teachers and the Davis staff prepare the kids in all academic areas, and give them a balanced, nurturing and enjoyable learning experience. While at Davis, Avi has fostered amazing friendships and is gaining the tools she’ll need to succeed in higher education and beyond. Davis encourages her to be her best self. Our family chose Davis, because we want Avi to receive the best education and have the greatest tools and opportunities available to her. As two-year members of The Davis Fund Committee, we understand that tuition doesn’t cover the actual cost of education and all the extras. Therefore, we give to Davis so Avi and her schoolmates receive the “best of the best” in terms of education and self-enrichment.

Leadership Davis Leadership Davis is a unique program created over 15 years ago to energize and develop a continuous pool of future leadership for The Davis Academy. The program is offered every two years. Each class meets 5 times and topics of discussion include: the school history and the strategic plan, roles and responsibilities of the Administration, Board of Trustees and volunteers in an independent school and leadership styles and fundamentals of leadership in a non-profit organization.

Endowment Funds An endowment is a pool of funds that continues in perpetuity providing the ongoing support for priority program needs and for the future benefit and growth of the school. Endowment funds are active funds to which contributions and tributes can be made at any time. Gifts to an endowment make a lasting tribute in honor or memory of individuals or loved ones. The principal of an endowment fund is invested for future earnings, providing a stream of income to support current needs. These endowment funds enhance the educational experience of many students and faculty. We are grateful to these families for their foresight and thoughtfulness in making gifts of permanence in areas crucial to The Davis Academy’s future.
