For everyone the flavours of Parma are Prosciutto and Fried Dough and Anolini in meat stock with Parmigiano Reggiano. But the flavour here is not only food related, although meal time is a serious moment. With the spirit of bon vivant charmers who take their passion extremely seriously, those who live in Parma do not like to leave the table dissatisfied – and that will not be the case with the refined products of the Osteria della Gatta Matta.

The taste of this city that we want to tell you is also that of cobbled streets and narrow shaded alleys, which, just around the corner, open up to the view of Piazza Duomo and the Baptistery: ancient and beautiful monuments that tell so much about the city and its having been a capital. Knowing this corner of history means visiting it on foot and fully enjoying its beauty, with your nose up, discovering Correggio and Parmigianino. The church of San Giovanni Evangelista, the Camera di San Paolo, the Basilica of Saint Mary of Steccata are not only masterpieces, they are family treasures for those who live here and, while enjoying their greatness every day, consider them part of themselves.

While wondering in the centre you can discover another very original corner of the city: the Antica Spezieria of San Giovanni, which still preserves the monks’ officinal tradition enclosed in precious stills and earthenware jars. But, as Parma’s own fame tells us, you only know it halfway if you haven’t enjoyed its cooking. Dodging the bicycles that cross the centre and following the scent of freshly baked bread, it will be easy to reach the Rosetta Bakery, where the owner Giorgio, prodigal with tales no less than delicacies, tells sixty years of history: his, which is also that of the city. At night, the city speaks to you in its most romantic voice.
